Kolkata, September 18 (IANS) Controversial Trinamool Congress MLA, Humayun Kabir, arrived in Kolkata’s special court in Kolkata on Thursday afternoon, to meet fellow party Jiban Krishna Saha, who was arrested last month due to the Enforcement Directorate (Ed).
While Kabir is a Trinamool Congress MLA from Bhagalpur assembly constituency in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, Saha is a party MLA from Barwan assembly constituency in the same district.
Saha, who is now in judicial custody, reached the special PMLA court in Kolkata on Thursday afternoon, to appear for hearing his bail plea. Before the hearing began in the case, Kabir reached the same court and interacted with Saha.
Kabir also interacted with Saha’s wife and son, who was also present in the court. Development has been surprised, as Kabir’s decision to meet Saha comes at a time when the Trinamool Congress leadership had already started removing himself from Saha and claiming that the party school-job would not take responsibility for the latter involvement in the irregularities.
When the matter was questioned, Kabir clearly stated that it was his personal decision to come to a special court to meet his fellow party MLA from the same district, and the party was not involved in it.
Kabir said, “No one can be happy or fine behind bars.
Political observers say that through his actions and statements, Kabir sent a subtle message to the Trinmool Congress leadership that he did not like the idea of party leadership, when the latter was going through a difficult time.
Earlier, Kabir was censored several times by the Trinamool Congress leadership and even slapped with a show-causal notice to make public statements, embarrassing the party. However, despite reprimanding, Kabir repeated his actions and statements.
Saha was previously arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI), who is conducting a parallel investigation in the school-job case. However, he later got bail in the CBI-regulated case. Last month, he was arrested by ED officials.
