This is really incredible!

The Tesla Optimus robot just took a giant leap…literally. It can run now!

You may not realize it unless you really think about it, but running really is an incredible feat.

We think it’s easy because we’ve done it our whole lives, but running requires you to have both feet in the air at certain times and then catch yourself on one foot while coming down with balance.

Hard metal legs?

Will not work.

Lost balance?

Will not work.

And while previous videos showed Optimus walking around slowly like Joe Biden with a dementia shuffle, the new Optimus is in action!

Check it out:

The progress in just 2.5 years is amazing!

See here:

Incredible progress has also been made on this issue, which is the major hurdle right now…but not for long!

The hand looks almost resolved.

Check out these tendons!

The main competitor of Tesla Optimus is the Figaro robot.

And the competition looks stiff as Figure has also recently learned to run.

Here are both bots running side by side in video:

They both look really good!

If I’m honest it’s hard to differentiate which one is better.

Plus, it looks like they both have “toes”…

Check it out:

Truly incredible work by both teams!

I want one so bad!

Meet Figure 03, a brand new robot from Figure AI specifically designed to work inside your home.

In other words, lifting stuff, vacuuming, washing clothes, doing dishes, you name it!

While you’re at work all day, your Figure 03 can keep the house in perfect order for you when you return home that evening!

Look, I’m not selling these, I have no affiliation with the company, I just think they’re great!

I can’t wait to get one.

And the best part is that although they are not available for purchase yet, they are rumored to cost $20,000. I understand that’s not a small chunk of change, but significantly less than a basic car these days.

I’m already saving my pennies and pennies so I’m ready when they finally go on sale!

Watch this video and I think you’ll understand why I’m so excited:

Can I have 5 of these at home please?

I love it!

Imagine them cleaning your entire house, cleaning up after the dog, taking the dog for walks, and then tending to your every need when you get home after work.

Oh, and a nice dinner has already been prepared for you and the family!

We’re actually living in a Jetsons future and it’s even better than expected!

Here’s more information on how it all works, straight from here Figure AI Website:

Today we’re introducing Figure 03, our third generation humanoid robot. Figure 03 is designed for the helix, the house and the world at large. Our goal is to provide a truly general-purpose robot – one that can perform human-like tasks and learn directly from people. To bring this vision to life, our engineering and design teams completed a ground-up hardware and software redesign to ship Figure 03:

  • Helix: Figure 03 features a completely redesigned sensory suit and hand system that is purpose-built to enable Helix – Figure’s proprietary vision-language-action AI.

  • Home: Figure 03 has a number of new features, including soft goods, wireless charging, an improved audio system for voice reasoning, and battery protection advancements that make it safer and easier to use in a home environment.

  • Large Scale Manufacturing: The Figure 03 was engineered from the ground up for high volume manufacturing. On a larger scale, we established a new supply chain and an entirely new process for manufacturing humanoid robots at BotQ.

  • World at scale: The low manufacturing costs and advances made for the helix have significant benefits for commercial applications.

designed for helix

There is no way to scale humanoid robots without AI. That’s why we built Figure 03 around one goal – to enable true reasoning around the world using Helix. Figure 03 introduces a completely redesigned sensory suit and hand system, intended to bring the Helix to life.

Figure 03 introduces a next-generation vision system engineered for high-frequency visuomotor control. Its new camera architecture delivers twice the frame rate, one-quarter latency and a 60% wider field of view per camera – all within a more compact form factor. Combined with the extended depth of field, this architecture provides the Helix with a denser, more stable perceptual stream. These advancements are essential for intelligent navigation and precise manipulation in complex, cluttered spaces such as homes.

Each hand now integrates an embedded palm camera with a wide field of view and low-latency sensing, providing redundant, close-up visual feedback during grip. These cameras allow Helix to maintain visual awareness even when the main cameras are off (i.e. when reaching into cabinets or working in confined spaces) and enable continuous, adaptive control in real time.

The hands of Figure 03 represent a huge leap forward in compliant and tactile design. Softer, more adaptive fingers increase surface contact area, helping to grip objects of different shapes and sizes more stably. After surveying existing market options, Chitra found that current touch sensors had inherent limitations that could not withstand real-world use. This led to the in-house development of our first generation tactile sensor, guided by three principles: extreme durability, long-term reliability and high-fidelity sensing.

Each fingertip sensor can detect forces as small as three grams of pressure – which is sensitive enough to register the weight of a paperclip placed on your finger. This precision enables the Helix to distinguish between a secure hold and imminent slippage before it occurs, allowing fine, dexterous control over delicate, irregular or moving objects.

Figure 03 also includes 10Gbps mmWave data offload capability, allowing the entire fleet to upload terabytes of data for continuous learning and improvement. Together, these advances make Image 03 uniquely capable of large-scale, end-to-end pixel-to-action learning.

designed for home

To work effectively in the home, a robot must work seamlessly with people in their daily environments. With this in mind, Figure 03 introduces several design improvements focused on security. It features strategically placed multi-density foam to protect against pinch points, and it’s covered with soft textiles instead of hard machined parts. The Figure 03 has 9% less mass and significantly less volume than the Figure 02, making it easier to move around in domestic spaces.

picture 03 Battery The robot pushes the boundaries for battery safety and incorporates multiple layers of protection against misuse or malfunction, including safeguards at the battery management system (BMS), cell, interconnect and pack levels. The battery has already achieved the certification of UN38.3 standard.

Beyond safety, the Figure 03 is designed for everyday utility. The soft furnishings are fully washable and can be removed or replaced without any tools, allowing quick and easy swaps. The robot can also be customized with various clothing options, including clothes made from cut-resistant and sustainable materials.

To make it easier to communicate naturally with the robot, Figure 03 features an advanced audio hardware system for better real-time speech-to-speech. Compared to the Figure 02, its speaker is twice the size and almost four times more powerful, while the microphone has been recalibrated for better performance and clarity.
