Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram cafe blast suspect captured on CCTV

The owner of Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe, where 10 people were injured in a low-intensity bomb blast on Friday, spoke to NDTV and explained the sequence of events that led to the blast at his Whitefield outlet.

Owner Divya Raghavendra Rao said the suspect was seen eating rava idli before leaving his bag at the restaurant.

“I didn’t have my mobile phone with me when the blast happened and when I picked it up there were a lot of missed calls. When I called my team back, they told me there was an explosion in the restaurant,” he said.

“The first thing I thought was that maybe the explosion was caused by something inside the kitchen. But then we learned that there were no injuries or blood inside the kitchen and the explosion occurred in the customer area,” Ms Rao added. .

He said that after watching the CCTV footage, he saw that a person wearing a mask and muffler came to the billing counter and ordered Rava Idli.

“He took his order and then sat in a corner. He finished his meal and then left a bag in the corner before leaving the restaurant,” Ms Rao said. He said that after some time there was an explosion.

He said that fortunately there was no cylinder kept at the place where the explosion occurred.

‘Rameshwaram Cafe is my baby’

Ms Rao said she had recently given birth to her child and there was no difference between the Rameshwaram cafe and her newborn baby.

“My business is my baby and the loss of my outlet hurts me equally,” he said.

In a solemn message to its customers, he said that Rameshwaram Cafe will be back stronger very soon.

He said, “The Whitefield outlet will operate the same way it has been operating with tighter security and more security systems. We will be back.”

‘Will help those injured in the blast’

Thanking God that there were no fatal injuries in the Rameshwaram cafe blast, Mr Rao said he would help the injured persons.

“There were no serious injuries. Those who suffered some injuries are likely to recover in 15-30 days,” he said.

“We will take care of them to ensure that they get back to their normal lives,” he said.

In an official statement she said she was cooperating with authorities and authorities in their investigation.

“We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident that occurred at our Brookfield branch today… Our thoughts are with the injured and their families, and we are offering them all help, support and care and pray for their speedy recovery ,” Ms Rao said.
