Panaji, 4 October (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday slammed both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress in Goa, alleging that they were “hand in gloves” in robbing the state’s resources.
Kejriwal, after inaugurating a party office in Mayam from 16 km from here, alleged that in the last six decades, 13 or 14 families alone have occupied the government and its machinery in Goa alone. He said, “Both these sides contest elections for their families and not to rob Goa, not for the welfare of the people,” he insisted that the people of Goa have “no role” in the state government.
The AAP leader accused Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant of planning to field his wife from Mayam Assembly constituency in the upcoming elections, asking why a common party worker is not given a ticket instead. “We will not choose the wife or relative of any leader as a candidate,” Kejriwal said, alleging that the “dynasty rules” are strong in both Congress and BJP.
He pointed out the blame between the two major parties, saying that the leaders moved to the ruling side after the formation of the government.
Kejriwal asked the public whether some families or people should control the government. Sharing the information received during Goa flight, Kejriwal alleged that Goa Congress President Amit Patkar is the owner of mines in the state, and he cannot operate them without CM Sawant’s blessings.
The AAP leader said, “Both are one in robbing the resources of the state. They earn in joint business, making people fools.” The former CM of Delhi said that Goa people are deprived of basic facilities like hospitals, schools and good roads.
He said, “These public issues can be resolved using public money that now goes into the pockets of these two parties,” he alleged, urged people to prepare the system in Goa.
Earlier, AAP leader Atisi expressed confidence that the AAP would form a government in Goa in the 2027 assembly elections, claiming that the public had turned against the current BJP administration.
He alleged that the common people are afraid to contact BJP MLAs with problems as the legislators have “intimidated people.” Atii promised that an AAP government would install a ‘Delhi model’ of governance in Goa, where citizens can “contact their representatives independently and fearlessly”.
