The perpetrator of the Farakka rape case was sentenced to death in 60 days. What did Mamata say to the judicial system?

The CBI is yet to solve the rape and murder case of a young doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, while on the other hand, the family of a minor girl from Jangipur got justice within 60 days. Deenbandhu Haldar was convicted of rape and murder in Farakka, Changchipur and was sentenced to death. The judge sentenced the second convict, Shobo Halder, to life imprisonment. Earlier, in another case of rape and murder of a minor girl in South 24 Parganas Jaya Nagar, the Baruipur court completed the hearing within 62 days and sentenced the accused to death. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed satisfaction with the court’s opinion.

Today, one of the two defendants found guilty of the rape and murder of another minor in Farakka on 13 October 24 was sentenced to death, while his co-accused was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Mamta said this about the court’s decision

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: every rapist deserves the harshest possible punishment – no less than the death penalty,” she said. As a society, we must come together to eradicate this disgusting social evil. I am confident that a swift and prompt trial and punishment will act as a powerful deterrent and send a clear message that this type of criminal behavior will not be tolerated.

“I congratulate the state police and all involved in the prosecution process on this achievement, and my thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family,” she said.

Minor murdered during Durga Puja

On October 13 last year, during the Durga Puja festival, the little girl came to visit her grandfather’s house. She was playing in front of the house. During this time, the minor disappeared. The body of the minor was found about three hours later at the house of neighbor Dinbandhu Haldar. An angry mob beat up Deen Bandhu after the minor’s body was recovered.

After several days of treatment in the hospital, police from Farakka police station arrested Deenbandhu Haldar. He was arrested for murder, tampering with evidence and Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Deenbandhu Halder was detained and interrogated by the police.

The police later learned that another young man named Shubho Halder was also involved in the murder. On October 19, the police captured him from his home. The police opened a case against Shubo through this line.

The defendant files a charge sheet within 21 days of his or her arrest

According to local sources, despite the huge age difference between Deenbandu and murder defendant Shubro, they lived together most of the time. He was addicted to marijuana and alcohol. Shub allegedly helped Deenbandu murder and sexually exploit minors. After the minor’s death, investigation revealed that Shubo also helped Deenbandhu remove his body from the bag.

After the murder, a special investigation team was formed led by Janchipur district police superintendent Anand Roy. The team includes Additional Superintendent of Police IC Nilotpal Mishra of Farakka police station and many senior police officers. Twenty-one days later, police submitted a 622-page charge sheet. The testimony of 31 people ended after 52 days. After 59 days, the court found Deenbandhu and Shubo guilty. On Friday, the judge sentenced Deenbandhu to death and Shubo to life imprisonment.
