Kolkata, October 4 (IANS) RG Kar Medical College and Hospital’s parents on Saturday, denied the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) published, where Kolkata has been called the safest city across the country.
According to the NCRB report, Kolkata has recorded the lowest cognitive offenses per million people for 2023 (latest available), which is the fourth time in a line.
On Saturday, talking to media individuals, the parents of the RG car victim rubbed this part of the NCRB report, and claimed that these conclusions were not based on proper field research and perhaps the report was prepared to please someone.
“Was my daughter safe, and she was also at her workplace? Was there a senior citizen in Kultali in South 24 Parganas district, who became a victim of gang-interview this week? No one was safe here. I don’t know that the report was prepared while preparing the report.
The victim’s father doubted the credibility of those who have prepared the report in NCRB.
“I don’t know who is responsible for preparing such a report in NCRB. Even though I am confident that Kolkata reports to be the safest city in the country, does it not mean that the security aspect in other Indian cities is unimaginable?
According to him, the only possibility is that police personnel in Kolkata do not register most of the complaints filed by the common people, and therefore the crime figures in the city are presented as low.
He said, “We can feel what the reality is since our daughter left. Perhaps, experiences are the same,” he said.
According to the latest NCRB report, Kolkata recorded 83.9 cognitive offenses per lakh people in 2023, the lowest in 19 cities.
