After a winter of awards shows — the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the Grammys — the granddaddy of them all, the Academy Awards, is almost here. The 96th Academy Awards may be the coronation for “Oppenheimer,” which leads the pack with 13 nominations, but other films like “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “Poor Things” are also in the running.

When are the Oscars held?

The Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 10 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. ET – an hour earlier than usual – and will be broadcast live on ABC. Who hosts the Oscars?

Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted last year’s ceremony, will serve as host for the fourth time. That puts him alongside four-time Oscar winners Whoopi Goldberg and Jack Lemmon, and among multiple Oscar hosts, Kimmel trails only Johnny Carson (5), Billy G. Risto (9th) and Bob Hope (11th). Kimmel said in an interview with The Associated Press that the upcoming presidential election may be a topic for him and that he did not intend to strike in a very political tone.

“That’s not really what the Oscars are about,” Kimmel said. “That doesn’t mean I won’t make a joke or two about it. But mentioning the name of someone who shouldn’t be named at the Oscars is not really my goal.”

Will there be a performance?
