“The next MS Dhoni is in the making”: Sunil Gavaskar’s sensational praise for Dhruv Jurel cricket news

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar praised wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel after the youngster scored 90 runs in the first innings of the fourth Test against England in Ranchi. Building on his overnight score of 30, Jurel added 60 more runs in the first session of the third day, and was only a few big hits away from scoring his maiden Test century. However, Tom Hartley clean bowled Jurel, denying him a century in only his second Test.

Gavaskar praised Jurel for his “presence” and compared the youngster to legendary Indian captain and wicketkeeper MS Dhoni.

“Looking at the mental capacity of Dhruv Jurel, I think he is the next MS Dhoni,” Gavaskar said during commentary on Sports 18.

Gavaskar suggested that if Jurel continued to bat like he did in Ranchi, he would go on to score many centuries.

“Today he missed a century but make no mistake, this young man will score many centuries because of his understanding,” Gavaskar said during the lunch break.

At the lunch break, after Jurrell played a brilliant inning of 90 runs with the help of six fours and four sixes in 149 balls, Tom Hartley (3/68) clean bowled India’s first innings in 103.2 overs.

Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav (28) kept England in check for large parts of the first session on the third day after doing so in the final evening session on the second day.

For the eighth wicket, Jurel and Kuldeep added a vital 76 runs facing 202 balls, as the hosts had lost a major part of their batting line-up without any significant contribution on the second day.

When England took the second new ball, Kuldeep was dismissed and James Anderson returned the batsman with an inside edge, which rolled onto the stumps.

Once again playing an important inning, Kuldeep scored 28 runs in 131 balls with the help of two fours.

For England, Shoaib Bashir completed his first five-for.
