A new report of a think tank based in Washington-Nuyorke questions the argument of drug smuggling for the tariff of US President Donald Trump in Canada, stating that the vast majority of the Fentenyl seizures in the United States shows that the data shows that it is connected to the southern border.
The Manhattan Institute analyzed the newly issued data on 50 US states from 2013 to 2024, with the last two years, from 2013 to 2024 and the newly issued data on the Fentenile seizures made in Washington, DC.
It was found that about 99 percent of the bullets and 97 percent powder were found on the border with Mexico.
The report found that large phentineel seizures along the Canadian border were relatively rare.
Trump declared a national emergency on the northern border on the northern border on Phantanel smuggling to hit Canada with the tariff of the economy in March.
He stopped tariffs a few days later with imports with Canada-US-Maxico Agreement.
This report of Canadian Press was first published on 10 July 2025.
