His body is expected to reach Delhi Airport late night, from where it will be taken to Kashmir by tomorrow morning. Finally, he will be kept in his ancestral home in Safakdal in Srinagar to rest, where his funeral will be performed as per tradition.

However, the grieving family has informed us that they were not supported by the government in this difficult hour. Already destroyed and shattered by his daughter’s untimely death, he was forced to do every responsibility himself. From completing the documentation to arrangement of transport, the family bore the entire burden, paid about ten times the general air fare fee for repatriation of their mortal remains. The only assistance came from the Indian Embassy in Iran, which helped with initial formalities. In addition, everything was to be arranged by the bereaved family and community members, it was said.

It is a shocking that a family struggling with the loss of his young daughter had to fight with financial and logical obstacles simultaneously. Such moments of grief should be fulfilled with compassion and institutional support, not unbearable burden.

Khoomi urged the Foreign Minister to set up a formal machinery to assist the families of Kashmiri students and other Indian citizens who lose their lives abroad, ensuring that no family is left for themselves during such unimaginable tragedies. A clear, kind policy is the least that may be expected to maintain human dignity and support families in their dark hours.

The association said that when another Kashmiri student, Arsalan Kanjwal from Sopore, died in Iran, the MEA provided their repatriation facility and bored the entire expenses. This approach should also be extended in the matter of gathering, sparing his grieving family from this painful family.

The Association has given the Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar is also requested, for personal intervention, to reimburse the family of the heavenly rasul for extraordinary costs made to re -achieve its mortal remains.

The association urged the MEA to install a dedicated aid system under the Ministry to ensure timely financial, logical and humanitarian aid to the families of Indian students and citizens that lose their lives abroad.

This kind intervention will not only give relief to the grieving family of the gathering, but will also confirm the government’s commitment to stand in their most difficult times by its citizens.
