Israel and Hamas started the second day of indirect talks in Qatar on Monday, aimed at the aims between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump to achieve a ceasefire and captive deal in Gaza before an important meeting between Washington, DC, Al Jazira.
The latest round of talks began on Sunday in Doha, the mediators worked with the release of detainees for the broker and the prisoners in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. US President Trump has said that a deal can be done this week.
Prior to leaving for the United States on Sunday, Netanyahu said that Israeli negotiators were given clear instructions to achieve a ceasefire under the conditions that Israel has accepted by Israel. He said, “We have excluded a lot of hostages, but belonging to the remaining hostages, some of them are coming out,” he said that his meeting with Trump can “definitely help pursue the deal”.
Out of 251 prisoners taken by Palestinian fighters during the October 2023 attack, 49 are built in Gaza, including 27, including the Israeli Sena that they have died.
Netanyahu had earlier rejected Hamas’s response to the US-supported ceasefire proposal, calling Hamas’s reaction unacceptable “unacceptable”. The draft deals, expressed through the intermediary of Katri and Egypt, underlines the 60-day ceasefire, a phased release of prisoners, the Israeli contingent with parts of Gaza, and the discussion on the expiry of the war completely.
According to El Jazeera’s Noor Odeh, reporting from Jordan due to network coverage and Israeli ban on the West Bank occupied in Israel, Trump-Netyuhu meeting is being deployed as a “very important meeting” for the wide regional agenda of Israel. “Netanyahu cannot go against Trump’s wishes,” he said, seeing that Israeli Prime Minister Washington and his alliance are back home.
“There is disagreement within the Israeli cabinet that it will be difficult to adopt, especially on issues of redistribution and food support distribution,” said according to Al Jazira.
With the White House confirming the presence of journalists, Trump expects to meet Netanyahu at 6:30 pm local time on Monday (22:30 GMT).
Trus talks come after the previous month’s 12-day Israeli and US air strikes on Iran. The broker has repeatedly failed the previous efforts of a Trus, due to the rejection of Hamas for a permanent ceasefire in exchange for leaving all the detainees on a large scale.
Al Jazira said that the main sticking points remain at the full end of the war, while Israel maintains that it will continue military operations until Hamas disintegrates.
Some of Netanyahu’s staunch coalition partners have opposed to end the fight. However, due to a 21 -month long war with public spirit in Israel, the government is expected to support a ceasefire agreement.
Since Hamas’s October 2023 attacks and upcoming Israeli military operations, two temporary trouses have been broke, during which detainees were exchanged for Palestinian prisoners.
According to Gaza’s health officials, more than 57,500 Palestinians of conflict have been killed, almost the entire population displaced, and there are devastating consequences for Gaza with wide destruction. (AI)
