Jammu, September 17 (IANS) After heavy rains, there was havoc in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ramban, the Indian Army has now come forward to restore the important road connectivity there with the launch of 150 feet reinforced Maitra Bridge.
Due to continuous rains in Ramban district recently, an important stretch of Karol -Mitra Road, an important artery that connects the Ramban district to the rest of the UT, was washed.
The site was washed under unstable rocks, located about 20 meters from the Chenab River. The road was important to connect government establishments and villages, and its disadvantage disrupts daily life, causing local and vehicles strand.
The district administration there requested the army to assist for immediate restoration of connectivity.
Accordingly, a team of White Night Engineers of the Indian Army was deployed, and they executed the launch of the 150-foot triple-paneal double-storey additional-wide reinforced Bailey Bridge, designed to ensure heavy traffic effects.
BRO, NHAI, District Administration, J&K Police, and other civilian agencies assisted in the initial execution of the work.
