Srinagar, May 6: In an important step with the aim of strengthening food security in Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Government, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Departments, have increased the inclusion measures under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
This information was given here today by Minister, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Transport, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports and ARI and Training, Satish Sharma, which was given here today while interacting with the media.
According to “2024 official order No. 47-JK (FCS & CA), the new instruction ordered children to be included in the family ration card.
The minister further stated that to ensure that no eligible citizen is left behind, FCS and CA departments have been directed to identify and include already eligible beneficiaries in the PDS structure, which follow the installed criteria.
“A notable provision of the order addresses the inclusion of widows and divorces that were not previously covered under the system. On informing the department, such individuals will be eligible to issue separate ration cards on the basis of their financial position and eligibility under the National Food Security Act (NFSA)”, the minister insisted.
