The forecast of Met Office in Kolkata on Dashami is likely to disrupt the idol immersion

Kolkata, 1 October (IANS) forecast rain forecasting rainfall in Kolkata on Wednesday, which is likely to reduce the mood of the festival in the city, as a large number of people will throw the Peja Mandaps on the day of Penja on the day of Durga Puja, and there will be heavy rains for heavy rains on Thursday.

According to India’s Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall in the entire region can range from 64.5 mm (heavy) to 115 mm (very heavy), which can spoil the condition of waterlogging and cause traffic disruption.

IMD said in its latest bulletin, “Light to moderate rain is very high in most places, with heavy rains (7-20 cm) at one or two places,” IMD said in its latest bulletin, listed districts including South 24 Parganas, Eastern Midnapur, North 24 Parganas and Hugli.

Along with the districts of Kolkata, Jhargram, Howrah, Nadia and Eastern Burdwan, heavy rainfall (7–11 cm) is expected to be seen on Dashami. There is a possibility of 50 kmph and electric winds in coastal areas such as East Midnapur and South 24 Parganas, while on Wednesday, there has been a forecast of thunderstorms in several South Bengal districts.

In North Bengal, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Cooch Behar, South Dinajpur and North Dinajpur districts are expected to receive very heavy rainfall on 2 October.

The IMD has also issued a public advisory warning of waterfalls in low-flying areas, traffic snarl and underpass and disintegration in major city roads between 2 and 4 October.

Meanwhile, the Rain Court is beyond Durga Puja in the district of Mushidabad, Birbuh, East Birdwan, Nadia, Bankura, Purulia and Hogli.

IMD said in a statement, “A low pressure area has been formed in the west Central Gulf of Bengal, under the influence of cyclonic circulation in the eastern Central Gulf of Bengal and its neighborhood.

It is likely to move towards the north-west and to accelerate a depression on the west-central and adjacent northwestern Gulf around the northwestern Gulf of Bengal by 2 October morning and cross the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast on the morning of 3 October.

Since idols are immersed on the banks of the Hooghly River, the weather forecast became a cause of concern for civil officials in Kolkata. Steps are being taken to ensure that there is no untoward incident during immersion, as the water level in the river will increase due to heavy rains.
