The first freight train to carry cement from Punjab comes to Anantnag Goods shed in Kashmir Valley

The freight train of Indian Railways has successfully reached the goods of Anantnag in Kashmir Valley from Rupnagar, Punjab, which is an important milestone in connecting the Kashmir region to the national goods network.

The arrival of a freight train carrying cement is determined to accelerate infrastructure projects and improve the standard of living for the people of Kashmir.

The inaugural freight train was loaded with 21 BCN wagons of cement. At a distance of about 600 kilometers, this journey, new commission Anantnag goods today shed in less than 18 hours.

This phenomenon especially marks the first cement loading for this feature, underlining its readiness to support a new era of logical and economic development in the Kashmir region.

Cement taken on this train will be used for important projects, including construction of roads, bridges, public infrastructure and residential houses in the Kashmir Valley.

Logistics were executed with accuracy for this groundbreaking trip. On August 7, 2025 at 23:14, an indent was placed with Northern Railway, in which the rake placement was held on August 08 at 09:40, the loading was completed by 18:10 pm on August 8, 2025, with Gujarat Ambuja Cement Limited (GACL) with the facility.

Highlighting the modern capabilities of the National Railway Network, the goods were performed by an electric Wag-9 locomotive (loco number 32177, TKD, Trip 08/09).
