New Delhi, October 31 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with great enthusiasm and national pride. Leaders and citizens across the country paid emotional tribute to the Iron Man of India, whose foresight and determination laid the foundation of a united nation.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said, “Today the entire nation is remembering the immense contribution of Sardar Patel. It is also the vision of our Prime Minister that even if we are in power, we should rise above partisan boundaries and highlight the contributions of leaders, including those from opposition parties. This is our responsibility and our way of strengthening the unity and strength of the country.”
BJP MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dinesh Sharma said, “Prime Minister Modi has taken the vision of ‘One India, Shreshtha Bharat’ as a national resolve. To achieve Developed India @2047, every citizen from children to elders is coming forward with the feeling that there should be no discrimination on the basis of caste, region, religion or language. Our goal is one, ‘One India, Shreshtha Bharat’.”
BJP leader Sunil Sharma said, “The entire nation is paying tribute to Bharat Ratna and Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 150th birth anniversary. People across India are participating in the unity march. I have just returned from Shamli in Uttar Pradesh, where thousands of people had gathered to celebrate. The enthusiasm among children and citizens everywhere is truly inspiring – the spirit of unity is visible across the country.”
Recalling Sardar Patel’s historic role in uniting the country, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari said, “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the Iron Man of India, who united 546 princely states to create a strong, unified nation. On his 150th birth anniversary, the central government is organizing the ‘Run for Unity’ initiative across the country to honor his legacy.”
Former Union minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said, “This is a message not just for Jaipur but for every district of Rajasthan and every state of India. We remember Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who united and strengthened India. Prime Minister Modi has carried forward that spirit through “Ek Bharat, Self-reliant India”.
Uttar Pradesh Minister Rajni Tiwari also participated in the ‘Run for Unity’ event and said, “Inspired by the Iron Man of India, we are celebrating his 150th birth anniversary with great enthusiasm. His life reminds us that unity, discipline and patriotism are necessary to make our nation truly developed.”
Madhya Pradesh Minister and BJP leader Rakesh Singh said that under the initiative of Prime Minister Modi, the entire country is celebrating the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel as National Unity Day.
“This day is not just a celebration but a symbol of strength and unity, reminding us of the foundations on which our country stands,” he said.
Offering a different view, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Amike Jammey commented, “When we remember Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, we remember how he united India by bringing together different provinces, princely states and nawabs. At the same time, we must remain vigilant against those who divide the country and work against the principles laid down by BR Ambedkar in our Constitution. The unity that Sardar Patel created deserves all Must be protected.”
