Kolkata, 17 September (IANS) The disintegrated body of a seventh standard student was recovered after disappearance for about 20 days. The incident took place in Ramprat in Birbam district of West Bengal.
She was a student of Shyampahari Shri Ramakrishna Shikheth in Rampurhat.
The family of the deceased accused the physics teacher of that school, Manoj Kumar Pal, of kidnapping and killing the student. Based on their complaint, the police arrested the accused teacher on Wednesday morning.
According to the complaint lodged by the family, the student left home on August 28 to take his tuition.
Family members had filed a complaint with a missing person with Ramprat police station when she did not return home. Later, family members alleged that Manoj Kumar Pal, a physics teacher in the school, kidnapped her.
Late on Tuesday night, Ramprat police recovered the disintegrated body of a student from an wetland near Kalidanga village under Rampurhat police station.
After the recovery of the body, the missing person diary was converted into a murder case. Police said the body was cut into pieces and thrown into water.
A senior Birbah District Police official said, “We recovered the body that was cut into pieces. It began to disintegrate. Based on the complaint of the student’s family, the teacher has been arrested. A case of murder has been registered. The investigation into the incident has started.”
The police is trying to find out the motive behind killing the student and whether any physical torture was provoked before the murder.
However, since the body parts began to disintegrate, it would be difficult to establish a physical attack. The body has been sent to post mortem and forensic experts.
The arrested person is being questioned by police officers.
