While there were some great performances, the IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals made headlines for an entirely different issue. A major controversy erupted over a controversial catch taken by Shai Hope to dismiss Sanju Samson. Samson, who was batting on 86, hit it straight to the ground to Mukesh Kumar, but was caught by Hope. However, while completing the catch, he came very close to the boundary line. The third umpire gave him out but Samson refused to leave the field. He continued talking to the officer before leaving.
There has been much debate on this issue and there is disagreement on the Internet as to whether he was out or not. Now, in a new video from official broadcaster Star Sports, it is pretty much conclusive that Samson was out. It is seen in the video that Shai Hope’s foot was not touching the cushion. In the video, IPL-winning coach Tom Moody points out that the ‘boundary cushion’ never moved when Shai Hope took the catch.
Out or not out!?

However, Navjot Singh Sidhu said in a separate video that Hope had touched the boundary rope.
“The decision that changed the game was Sanju Samson’s dismissal. There may be differences of opinion, but if you look at the side-on angle, it touched the boundary twice. It was very clear. Either you Don’t use the technology, or if you are using it and the technology is making a mistake, then it is like there is a fly in the milk, and someone asks you to drink it,” Sidhu said on Star Sports.
“It touched the boundary twice. And after that, if someone says it is out…look, I am a neutral person, so I have seen it, it is not out. So I too about Kohli. That’s what I kept saying.” (His dismissal against KKR, which sparked controversy over a possible no-ball). Whatever the rules, you can see it with the naked eye, it’s like finding a trout in a glass of milk. The umpire did not do this intentionally, it is no one’s fault. “It changed the game.”
