The body of an Indian student who died in the United States has been flown to Hyderabad

The body of Indian student Mohammad Abdul Arafat, who was found dead in Cleveland, US earlier this month, was brought to his residence in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

According to reports, Alfas has been missing since March 7 and went to Cleveland State University in the United States to study for a master’s degree in 2023.

In early April, Alfas’ father urged the government to bring his son’s body back to India after his death.

After Arafat’s death, the Indian Consulate General in New York said it was “distressed” to learn of the death of Mohammad Abdul Arafat and was in touch with local authorities to ensure a thorough investigation into his death.

The Consulate General of India in New York said in a post on My deepest condolences.”

The statement said that all possible assistance is being provided to the family of the deceased and his body will be transported back to India.

Mohd Arfath, 25, traveled to the United States in May 2023 but has been missing since March 7 this year. His father, Mohd Salim, said that ten days later, they received a call from an unidentified person claiming that Arafat had been kidnapped and demanding a ransom of $1,200 for his release.

There has been an increase in such tragedies in the Indian community in recent times.

In early April, police were investigating the death of Indian student Uma Satya Sai Gadde in Cleveland, Ohio.

In early February this year, an Indian student was brutally attacked in Chicago. After the attack, the Indian Consulate in Chicago said it had contacted the victim, Syed Mazahir Ali, and his wife in India.
