The BJP’s idea that India should have just one leader is an insult: Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi is looking to Wayanad again for his electoral luck.

Sultan Batli (Wayanad):

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of imposing the concept of “one leader for the nation” and said it was an “insult” to people across the country.

Wayanad MP said India is like a bouquet of flowers and each flower must be respected as it contributes to the beauty of the entire bouquet.

“The idea that India should have only one leader is an insult to every young Indian,” he said.

Mr Gandhi addressed party workers and voters in the top constituency after a massive roadshow as part of his campaign.

He asked why India couldn’t have more leaders and claimed that this line of thinking was the main difference between the Congress and the BJP.

The congressman said Congress wants to listen to the people of the country and love and respect their beliefs, language, religion and culture. However, he claimed that the BJP wanted to impose certain measures from the top.

“We are not free from the yoke of the British but colonized by the ideology of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. We want India to be ruled by all her people,” he said.

Gandhi once again sought electoral luck from Wayanad, coming to the constituency for the second time after the Lok Sabha poll dates were announced. He kicked off the Wayanad poll campaign earlier this month by filing his nomination papers and holding a massive roadshow.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Mr Gandhi defeated Wayanad by a record margin of 4,31,770 votes.

Polling for 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala will be held on April 26.
