New Delhi, October 2 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, accusing Congress leader and Lok Sabha leader (LOP) Lok Sabha leader (LOP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, on his remarks during his visit to Colombia, accusing India of defaming India and showing “affection for China.
Addressing a press conference, senior BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that it was unfortunate that on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, instead of greeting Indians, Rahul Gandhi chose to criticize the country abroad.
Prasad commented, “Rahul Gandhi is abroad. It would have been better if he wished the people of the country on the occasion of Vijayadashami. But instead, he options to speak against India,” Prasad commented.
He alleged that Gandhi has “developed a habit of” defaming India and insulting its democracy “.
Citing Rahul Gandhi’s statements in Bogota, Prasad said: “He claimed that there is no democracy in India and there is no freedom to speak. It is completely baseless. If he says such things abroad, he will lose the trust of the people here and will not be able to win the seats.”
Prasad enjoyed the entire freedom to attack the BJP at home and accused the Congress leader of constantly making false allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “Rahul Gandhi abused PM Modi without shame. He says that there is no freedom to speak, yet he insults the BJP and the Prime Minister the most,” he said.
Turning to Gandhi’s alleged comments on China, Prasad alleged: “Now you are praising China, saying that India cannot become a global power, but China can do. Your praise is clear for China, and you never miss the opportunity to insult India.”
India’s growing global stature was highlighted, Prasad insisted: “Today India is the fourth largest economy in the world, which is on the way to become the third. We strongly condemn Rahul Gandhi’s repeated efforts to come abroad.”
