Kolkata, 7 October (IANS) Manoj Kumar Oran, BJP MLA from Kumaragram constituency in Alipurdar district of West Bengal, was allegedly attacked by Trinmool Congress workers on Tuesday, while he reached a village to reach a village under his constituency, to distribute relief materials for flood -affected people.

The unfortunate incident came to light exactly a day after the vehicle of BJP Lok Sabha member, Khagan Murmu and party’s chief whip Shankar Ghosh, on Monday afternoon, Alipur Duar-Adhiperti was attacked in Bamundanga in Jalpaiguri district, while he was in the way of Nagarkata with the same district for floods.

While Khagen Murmu was seriously injured in that attack, Ghosh faced minor injuries again by Trinmool Congress supporters.

Both Murmu and Ghosh are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Siliguri in Darjeeling district.

Later, talking to media persons, Oran alleged that he and his colleagues were prevented from distributing relief materials among the flood -affected people by a group of Trinamool Congress workers.

According to BJP leader Oraon, two of the vehicles in which they and their colleagues came were barbaric.

He also said that even his security personnel were attacked and efforts were made to snatch his forearm.

Oraon said, “Many of our (BJP) supporters including three women were injured in attacks.

However, District President of Alipurdar of Trinamool Congress, Prakash Chik Barik claimed that the event was a spontaneous opposition by the local people suffering from the long absence of the Oron in the area.

“The local BJP MLA is missing from the entire year region. So he came to campaign keeping in mind the assembly elections next year. So, he had to face comfortable opposition from the local people,” said Barik.
