this year’s red carpet Gave us some of the most memorable fashion moments lily allenReturns to the red carpet after her new album Ariana Grande And Cynthia Erivo’is viral Wicked Is visible.
Method-dressing (when an actor pays homage to the film they’re promoting through their fashion) took the year’s red carpets by storm.
However, the classically timeless looks of some celebrities made an equally big impact.
Here are the most memorable fashion moments from the 2025 red carpet…
lily allen
If not, the biggest album of the year – Lily Allen returned to the red carpet this November in her own version of the Avenger dress.
Lily Allen’s west end girl Pop culture continues to dominate. Hailed as one of the year’s outstanding albums, it offers a raw but thrilling portrait of the dissolution of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
Following its release, Allen attended the London premiere. The Hunger Games: On StageWhere she chose a 1999 transparent and clinging black knit Dior dress designed by John Galliano, which had a high neck and long sleeves, and wore nothing but a black thong underneath.
This was Allen’s own interpretation of Princess Diana’s iconic “Avenger dress”.
The rest of her outfit remained simple, complemented by a curated mix of black platform Louboutins and rings. Her hair was tied into a textured, layered bun with her trademark messy bangs and she completed the look with fresh, minimal makeup.
Cynthia Erivo
Cynthia Erivo wore a showstopping silk and patent leather gown to the London premiere Wicked: for goodThe sequel to Wicked is set for 2024.
Wearing custom Prada, the dress was crafted of vinyl, with puffy, harnessed mutton sleeves.
The striking silhouette replaced her “evil” alter ego, Elphaba. Erivo completed the look with Roberto Coin jewelry.
Alexa Chung
British ‘It’ girl Alexa Chung headlined the year’s major trends at The Fashion Awards in December, wearing a dress that featured a drop waist, funnel collar and balloon sleeves.
Chosen from Chloé’s recent Spring/Summer 2026 collection, the canary yellow knee-grazing style was made from weather-resistant fabric (a nice nod to the British blue carpet) and featured a peplum-esque hemline.
But instead of leaning into the boho sense that the French fashion house is known for, Chung opted for a pair of croc-print heels — a style the Princess of Wales has worn repeatedly.
Her pair were travertine-toned pumps from luxury shoe brand Kristen. Chung then completed the look with Pandora jewelry and loose Forties-style pin curls.
Ariana Grande
One of the biggest trends of 2025 on the red carpet was Ariana Grande.
While her Wicked look was amazing in itself, Grande’s stunning, polka-dotted dress that she wore to the MTV Music Awards in September was the perfect example of how the popularity of this pattern has surged again this year.
The strapless custom Fendi gown was inspired by a dress from the 1980s brand of the same name, designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi, who served as fashion designer and artistic director of accessories and menswear.
As for accessories, Grande tied a black-and-white-dotted ribbon around her high ponytail and completed the look with simple Swarovski jewelry.
Lewis Hamilton
Some of this year’s best looks, unsurprisingly, came from one of fashion’s most famous evenings – the Met Gala.
As co-chair of the evening, Lewis Hamilton wore a custom look from London-based designer Grace Wales Bonner.
His cropped ivory jacket was layered over a pair of tuxedo trousers, with a carefully embroidered sash flowing from them.
Her overall ivory look exudes purity and status and the bead and shell embellishments throughout the look echo ancestral decorations and ancient postures.
The outfit was completed with a custom beret by renowned milliner Stephen Jones, Manolo Blahnik shoes and an Escher-cut brooch by Briony Raymond, undoubtedly making the Formula One star one of the best-dressed men of the evening.
Chapelle Rhone
Making her Met Gala debut, Chappelle Rhone embraced the evening’s “tailored for you” code this year with a bright, pink suit-inspired ensemble that was reminiscent of her. Pink Pony Club Strike.
Featuring flared sleeves, wide lapels, bell bottoms and a coat to match, the singer’s look was camp, bold, dramatic and full of personality. A reminder that red-carpet dressing is more about self-expression than trends.
Emma Stone
This year Stone brought back the pixie cut almost single-handedly — and probably with the help of longtime lovers like Teyana Taylor and Jourdan Dunn.
Thanks to her role in Bugonia, where she shaved her head, the 37-year-old actress has been wearing the short cut on all red carpets this year.
One of the most memorable was the Cannes Film Festival, where Stone stepped out in a boho-chic, tier plunging gown from Louis Vuitton, with delicate lace trim.
The navy slip dress, which leaned into the ongoing lingerie-but-it’s-fashion trend, was a romantic, statement piece that spoke for itself, so it made sense that Stone kept her jewelery to a minimum and opted for a natural wave in her hair.
