The agency confirmed that the Korean drama “Marry My Husband” will be remade in Japan

According to JTBC, the Korean drama “Marry My Husband” is currently in discussions to be remade in Japan. The TV series Marry My Husband blends fantasy, romance and revenge, with elements of time travel added to add depth to the storyline. Studio Dragon, the production company of the original series, confirmed the plans, noting that the webtoon was already popular in Japan before it aired in South Korea. Their statement read: “The original webtoon is very popular in Japan, so we have been discussing adapting the original webtoon into a Japanese drama before the Korean version aired, and we are currently discussing the direction of the plan with the Japanese side.”

The drama will premiere on January 1, 2024 on tvN. Adapted from Sung So-taek’s online novel, the story revolves around Kang Ji-won (Park Min-young), a terminally ill woman who seeks revenge after discovering her husband’s extramarital affair with her best friend Jung-soo. Min (played by Song Hajun). Kang Ji-won is murdered by her husband Park Min-hwan (Lee Yi-kyung), triggering a time-travel twist that sees her go back 10 years to seek revenge along with department head Yoo Ji-hyuk (Na In-woo) at her company, Koreaboo reports.

The main cast of “Marry My Husband” includes Park Min Young as Kang Ji Won, a patient woman who faces challenges from her overbearing mother-in-law and selfish husband. Na In-woo plays Yoo Ji-hyuk, a handsome and intelligent head of the U&K Food department.

Ryu Ji-hyuk was initially seen as a strict boss, but unexpectedly became Kang Ji-won’s ally and formed an indissoluble bond with her. Their relationship was strictly professional in Kang Ji-won’s previous life, but takes a new turn as Yoo Ji-hyuk struggles with his one-sided love for Kang Ji-won despite his status and power.

So far, the show has been praised for its engaging plot and stellar performances, especially those of the lead actors. It has earned a loyal fan base in Korea and internationally, with viewers eagerly awaiting each new episode.

The success of the Korean version of “Marry My Husband” has also sparked interest in its potential for a Japanese remake, with fans excited to see how the story will be adapted for new audiences.
