Jammu, 05 May: Officials said on Monday that Pakistani troops resorted to firing in eight forward areas along the line of control in Jammu and Kashmir, violated ceasefire agreements and inspired vengeance from Indian soldiers, officials said on Monday.
It shoots unsafe with the LoC of Pakistan on the 11th consecutive night, which has increased tension between New Delhi and Islamabad after the killing of 26 people in the April 22 terror attack in Pahgam on 22 April.
A defense spokesperson in Jammu said, “During the night of May 4 and 5, Pakistan’s army posts resorted to small arms fire across the LoC in opposite areas of Kupwala, Baramalla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mehar, Naushera, Sundarbani and Akhanur.”
“The Indian Army immediately and proportionally responded,” he said.
The firing was launched by Pakistani troops to five border districts – Jammu, Rajouri, and Pir Panjal Range in Jammu region south of Poonch, and by Baramulla and Kupwara districts in Kashmir Valley.
Initially, many positions with LoCs in Kupwara and Baramulla districts of North Kashmir started with unprotected small arms firing, Pakistan rapidly expanded its ceasefire violations for the Poonch sector and later in the Akhanur region of Jammu region.
This was followed by small arms firing in many positions with LoC in Nowshera areas of Sunderbani and Rajouri districts. Subsequently, the firing expanded in the Pargwal region along the international border in Jammu district.
The ceasefire violation of the ceasefire by Pakistan was despite the fact that the directors of the military operations (DGMOS) of India and Pakistan spoke on the hotline between the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir on 29 April amidst the unsafe firing of Pakistan.
It is understood that the Indian side warned the Pakistani side about unsafe firing during exchanges.
Since the night of 24 April, India resorted to firing at various places with LoCs in JK starting from Kashmir Valley after suspending the Indus Water Treaty after India suspended the Indus Water Treaty after the Pahgam terror attack.
On 24 April, Pakistan blocked its airspace for Indian airlines, shut down the Vaga border crossing, suspended all trade with India, and said that any attempt to remove water for Pakistan under the Indus Water Treaty would be considered as “war work”.
The firing exchanges have made the ceasefire agreement of February 2021 fruitless, with widespread violations in the score of areas with 740 km-LOC by Pakistan.
India and Pakistan agreed to a fresh ceasefire with borders in Jammu and Kashmir in February 2021.
The situation has changed significantly since February 2021, when DGMOS of India and Pakistan reiterated its commitment to the 2003 ceasefire agreement to ensure peace with the real border.
India shares a total of 3,323 km border with Pakistan, divided into three parts: the International Border (IB), about 2,400 km from Gujarat, to the northern bank of the Chenab River in Akhbur, Jammu, Jammu, Jammu; The line of control (LOC), 740 km long, is moving from parts of Jammu to parts of Leh; And the actual ground position line (AGPL), 110 km long, divides the Siachen region from NJ 9842 to Indira Colonel north.
