Tennessee: A massive explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Virudhunagar, killing at least 9 people and injuring several others

At least nine people were killed and many others injured when an explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Vembakota in Tamil Nadu’s Virudhunagar district on Saturday.

The explosion was so large that four buildings near the factory were also destroyed, locals said. india today the report said.

The police and fire brigade rushed to the scene after receiving the news and then sent the injured to a local hospital.

According to reports, seven people died on the spot and two others died on the way to the hospital.

Police said the cause of the explosion was under investigation.

Reacting to the incident, Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary TTV Dhinakaran posted on It’s very painful. My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to the families of the victims.”

He further wrote that he prayed for a speedy recovery for all those “severely injured in the accident and taken to the hospital for treatment.”

“The safety of thousands of workers working in firecracker factories has been questioned by factory owners who allegedly did not follow safety regulations properly and by government authorities who were indifferent to the accident after causing multiple casualties,” Dhinakaran noted.

The AMMK leader urged the Tamil Nadu government to take necessary steps to ensure the safety of all those involved in the “dangerous firecracker industry”.

The incident took place within the limits of Vembakottai police station.
