timeTwo years and £370m later, the Rwanda plan launched by Priti Patel and Boris Johnson remains trapped in parliamentary purgatory, facing a steady stream of amendments and objections from Chancellor Rishi Sunak and the House of Lords. Amendment.

In the latest setback for Mr Sunak, peers voted on March 20 that the government’s bill should have “due regard” to international law and that the UK’s treaty with Rwanda should be fully implemented before flights begin.

There has been so much back-and-forth about the Rwanda plans, we wanted to know if you think they are the best way to deal with the challenges facing the UK asylum system.

Even if the plan is eventually implemented, will transporting asylum seekers to Kigali be the best way to deal with the small boat crisis?

It follows reports that Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer is considering “detailed plans” for a so-called offshoring scheme in a bid to thwart Tory attacks on alternatives to Labour’s Rwanda plan.

The scheme would see asylum applications processed overseas, with successful applicants allowed to come to the UK. But will you support this move?

Meanwhile, the Institute for Public Policy also proposed alternatives to the government’s “unrealistic” and “costly” plans for Rwanda, including the introduction of a unique refugee visa, particularly for Afghans, allowing them to apply for temporary leave to enter the UK through Embassies of other countries, reducing the need to cross the strait.

Among other things, the IPPR calls for renewed cooperation with European countries to jointly tackle people smuggling, resolve immigration status issues in northern France, and develop common protocols for processing asylum applications.
