Hyderabad, October 19 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday said that the state government is giving importance to the Yadav community in providing political opportunities as well as benefits of all welfare schemes.
The Chief Minister participated in the “Sadar Sammelan” organized by Shri Krishna Sadar Sammelan Utsav Committee in Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, CM Reddy assured the Yadav community of full support from the state government.
He also said that the Telangana government is ready to address all the grievances of the Yadav community.
The Chief Minister told the Yadav community that whenever the society wants to meet him, he will always be available.
He assured the community that the state government will provide them every political opportunity and give them due respect.
He appealed to the community to cooperate for the development of Hyderabad.
Referring to the popular saying ‘Yadav ka Khadar…Hyderabad Sadar’, the Chief Minister said that Yadav society is also synonymous with trust and dependence.
The Chief Minister recalled the important role played by the community in the formation and development of Telangana.
Chief Minister Reddy alleged that the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government neglected the Sadar Utsav, but after coming to power in the state, the Congress government declared ‘Sadar Utsav’ as a state festival and provided funds.
State ministers P. Srinivas Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Vakati Srihari, former Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, state BJP president Ramachander Rao, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and others were present.
Sadar Utsav, popularly known as Buffalo Carnival, is celebrated every year by the Yadav community as part of Diwali in Hyderabad.
Buffaloes are decorated with flower garlands, their horns are painted and paraded through the streets.
The participants dance to the sound of Teen Maar music.
On this occasion, awards are given to the owners of the best bulls.
Members of the Yadav community bring buffaloes from different parts of the country for the annual event, also known as ‘Dunnapothula Panduga’.
This festival reflects the dependence of the Yadav community on buffaloes for their livelihood.
It is said that Sadar Utsav started in 1942.
Last year, the Telangana government had declared it a state festival, highlighting its cultural significance and promoting tourism.
