Telangana Assembly Speaker to hear disqualification petitions from Monday

Hyderabad, September 28 (IANS) Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Monday conducted a test in connection with the four disqualification petitions filed by BRS against the defeated MLAs.

After checking the submission by 10 defaid Mlas of Bharat President Samithi (BRS), the speaker decided to test under the tenth program of the Constitution.

Legislature Secretary V. As a program for the action issued by Narasimha Cherulu, the speakers will hear the cross-execution of the counselors of the petitioners by four defective MLAs, and vice versa.

The hearing will be held on 29 September and 1 October.

Turnkot MLAS, T. With the hearing of Prakash Gaud (Rajendranagar), Kale Yadaiya (Chevella), Gudem Mahipal Reddy (Patancheru), and Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy (Jogulamba Gadwal).

On 29 September, BRS MLA Kalvakantala Sanjay will be cross -examined by Gaud’s lawyer, Yaadaiyah and Mahipal Reddy’s counsels by Chinta Prabhakar and Krishna Mohan Reddy’s lawyer by Palla Rajeshwar Reddy.

On 1 October, Goud will be investigated by Sanjay’s lawyer, Yadaiya and Mahipal Reddy’s lawyer, and Krishna Mohan Reddy by Rajeshwar Reddy’s lawyer.

Both days will be heard from 11 am to 4 pm

BRS leaders had filed a petition before the speaker seeking disqualification of 10 party MLAs who joined the ruling Congress.

He contacted the Supreme Court on delay on behalf of the speaker in deciding his petitions.

The Supreme Court directed the assembly to take a decision within three months on 31 July, demanding disqualification of 10 BRS MLAs who switched to the Congress after the November 2023 elections.

This is the first time in the history of Telangana Legislative Assembly that the speaker is hearing disqualification petitions.

Meanwhile, the Legislature Secretary has imposed restrictions in the assembly premises in view of the disqualification petitions for hearing by the tribunal under the 10th Schedule of the Constitution.

While the proceedings of the tribunal are going on in the premises of the Legislature Building, restrictions will be applicable from September 29 to October 6.

Visitors will not be allowed within the premises without valid permission. Media personnel will not be allowed to enter the premises. The Legislature Secretary said that press briefing is not allowed at media points and also in the premises of the building.

Former MLC, former MLA and former MPS are not allowed to enter, while MLC and MLA are allowed only for their respective legislature party offices.

Members (petitioners and respondents) and their advocates are requested to appear before the tribunal under the 10th Schedule that they do not carry mobile phones.

The secretary said that anyone has been designed to recording action and take photos with his phone, in which the gadgets have been seized, and the concerned advocate will not be allowed to appear in the proceedings, the secretary said.
