RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday refuted claims of tension between the party and the Congress, saying an understanding has been reached on seat-sharing for Lok Sabha polls in Bihar and an announcement in this regard will be made soon in Patna .

Mr Yadav attended an India Group meeting on the Bihar seat-sharing package at the residence of Congress leader Mukul Wasnik and later said his party, the Congress and the Left would Together to fight the Lok Sabha polls in Bihar.

He said the India Group partners had reached a verbal agreement on the seat-sharing arrangement and all the voters had reached a respectable agreement.

The former deputy chief minister of Bihar said a formal announcement on the seat-sharing issue will be made in Patna in about a day.

“The Congress-RJD alliance is the oldest alliance. We have been together in all situations and fought elections together. There has never been any tension between us. We have always understood each other,” Mr Yadav said. Bihar Congress president Akhilesh Prasad Singh and AICC are in charge of the state Mohan Prakash.

“Our collective agenda is to stop the BJP. I can say that Bihar will show shocking results. We have a strategy for this,” the RJD leader said.

Yadav said the media was not talking about “discord” and “dissatisfaction” among NDA voters in Bihar, but was highlighting tensions in the Indian bloc that “do not actually exist”.

His remarks came amid reports that the National Alliance for Inclusive Development in Bihar was upset over seat-sharing.

The Congress is said to be upset over the “unilateral” announcement of candidates by the RJD in some seats it is interested in contesting in Bihar.
