Patna, October 22 (IANS) RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday made a big election promise, saying that if the Grand Alliance government is formed after November 14, all contractual employees and Jeevika Didis in Bihar will be given permanent government jobs.

Addressing a press conference at his official residence in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on the NDA government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and alleged widespread corruption in government departments and exploitation of contractual workers.

Tejashwi Yadav alleged, “Various departments make huge payments to outsourcing companies, but these companies do not pay even half of the sanctioned amount to the employees. The rest of the amount goes to ministers, senior officials and decision makers as commission.”

“As a result, contract workers are forced to work at less than half their entitled wages and live under constant job insecurity, as they can be fired at any time without any prior notice,” he said.

Tejashwi said that if his government is formed, all contract employees will be made permanent and will be given complete job security.

He said, “During our 17-month Grand Alliance government, we regularized contractual teachers despite criticism from Sushil Kumar Modi, who said it was not possible. We proved it could be done – and we will do the same for contractual workers through agencies like Beltran.”

Tejashwi Yadav also unveiled a detailed scheme for Jeevika Didis, announcing permanent government status for them with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000 along with Rs 2,000 for additional expenses.

He also promised interest waiver on existing loans – only the principal amount has to be repaid. Besides this, he promised interest free loan for two years and insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh for each Jeevika Didi.

He said these measures will empower rural women and strengthen the Self Help Group (SHG) network of the state.

Tejashwi Yadav also announced the implementation of two new welfare schemes if his party returns to power and announced the MAA scheme, where M means Makaan (house), A means Anna (food) and the second A means Aamya (earnings).

Tejashwi Yadav explained in detail about the Beti scheme, where B means benefit, E means education, T means training and I means income.

“These schemes will ensure that every family has a roof over their head, food security, a stable income source and every daughter gets education, training and financial independence,” the RJD leader said.

Reiterating his previous commitment, Tejashwi Yadav once again promised that there will be one government job per family if his party comes to power in Bihar.

Tejashwi Yadav concluded, “Our vision is clear – job security, women empowerment and corruption-free governance. We will bring policies that will ensure dignity and stability for every family in Bihar.”
