Patna, November 9 (IANS) Amid the Bihar Assembly elections, the central government has increased the security of Janashakti Janata Dal chief and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav to Y+ category.
Tej Pratap, contesting elections from Mahua, had recently written a letter to the Center and Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging threat to his life and demanding increased security.
The Center has now accepted that request.
When asked by journalists at Patna airport on Sunday about the enhanced security cover, Tej Pratap looked angry and said, “You people are always after me.”
Under the new arrangement, Tej Pratap Yadav will now be protected by an extended armed security team as per the Y+ category protocol.
Tej Pratap Yadav further said that his security has been increased because his life is in danger. After this he left for his campaign program.
For the last two days, Tej Pratap has been seen at Patna airport with BJP MP Ravi Kishan.
Earlier on Friday, Tej Pratap told reporters that he would support whoever develops Bihar, while Ravi Kishan said that BJP’s doors are always open for devotees of Lord Shiva.
Ravi Kishan said that Tej Pratap was a good-hearted person and a devotee of Shiva.
Asked if a different picture might emerge after voting, Tej Pratap reiterated, “We will support the one who removes unemployment and provides employment. We both wear tilak, so why wouldn’t we praise each other?”
With his rising presence with the BJP leader, speculations have again surfaced that he may switch to the NDA – though there is no confirmation from either side yet, and these are mere political rumours.
Now with Tej Pratap Yadav getting Y+ category security, the political stir in the state has again intensified.
Voting for the second phase of Bihar elections will be held on November 11 and counting of votes will take place on November 14.
