A teenager has been arrested in oslo After firing a gun in the city’s largest shopping centerPolice said.
Authorities evacuated Storo Storecenter in the Norwegian capital shortly after 11 a.m. Monday following reports of shots fired.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man from the scene. He later revealed that he had called him before the shooting.
Speaking to reporters after the incident, Oslo Police Operations Chief Tor Grotum said the incident was “very serious” and that it was fortunate no one was injured.
“We reached the spot very quickly and immediately brought the suspect under control,” he said. Norwegian news outlet VG. “This may be an important factor in why it happened so well. There was a lot of potential for injury.”
An Oslo police spokesman told local media that a bullet was fired into a communal area inside the center and hit the roof.
While arresting the suspect, police found a bag containing ammunition and a knife and baseball bat.
Despite no injuries, a large police presence, including squad cars and a helicopter, remained at the shopping center until the morning.
The shopping center has reopened but police have advised people to stay away from the area so emergency services can work effectively.
