When gunmen stormed a concert hall near Moscow last month, teenage cloakroom attendant Artem Donskov helped people flee to safety. Now his mother is trying to get him to see a psychologist.
Artyom, 14, told Reuters in an interview that he and his colleagues helped people escape through service corridors and guided them to exits as attackers opened fire on concertgoers and set fire to the building.
Panic broke out, he said.
“As far as I know, someone shouted that terrorists might be coming towards us, and everyone was frightened. At first, some people ran into the dead end, then ran outside, threw down their mobile phones and bags, and tried to Run away.” As fast as you can. “
The March 22 attack killed at least 144 people and was Russia’s worst attack in 20 years. Islamic State militants claimed responsibility, but Russia said the attackers were linked to Ukraine, something Kyiv has repeatedly denied.
Artem’s mother, Alexandra Donskova, told Reuters that he and his family were mentally exhausted. She said he was a shy boy and she was worried about his mental health.
“Of course I hope he gets at least one session with a psychologist because I can’t treat my own children. I hope he can resolve the situation,” she said.
“He doesn’t agree with it now, but maybe I’ll insist on it later.”
