Teacher gives kids Bible gifts at school, parents make trouble; timeout

Accused teacher suspended

A teacher distributes Bibles to students at a school in Rajanna Sirisila district of Karnataka state. When the parents learned about this incident, they were very angry and asked the school leaders to severely investigate and deal with the teacher. Meanwhile, the school management has suspended the teacher. The police have registered a case in this matter.

This school is located at Ellareddypet in Rajanna Sirisila district. Teacher Lingala Raju, who works as an English teacher at Government Zilla Parishad High School in Narayanapuram, distributed gifts to around 100 students in the name of Christmas gifts. The gift bag contains toys, scissors, cookies, chocolates, pens and Bible books. When other teachers saw the Bible books, they stopped handing out the gifts.

Parents create disturbances

After local people learned of the incident, they came to the school, confiscated the students’ gift bags, and began to cause commotion inside the school. After receiving the information, MEO Krishnahari and SSI Ramakant reached the school and started investigation. Locals complained to the mandal education officials with videos and photos. He told locals that the department would take action against the teacher. The police reached the school, confiscated the gift boxes and took them to the police station, whereupon a case was registered against Mr. Raju who distributed the gifts.

DEO suspends teacher

MEO Krishnahari lodged a complaint with district education officer Jagan Mohan Reddy in the evening, seeking action against him. The DEO suspended Raju. He also warned that if anyone spreads such propaganda, we will take strict action.
