Tata Motors to update, rebrand Tigor EV, Tiago EV as ‘Acti.EV’ vehicles; Details here

Tata Motors According to Anand Kulkarni, Chief Product Officer (CPO) and HV Program Head, Tata Passenger Electric is expected to unveil Tiago electric vehicle (EV) and Tigor electric vehicle (EV), both of which will have similar features to the Punch EV. Mobility (TPEM).

Tata Motors has recently introduced a new electric micro-SUV Punch EV in the Indian market. Its look is new and it is built on a completely new electric vehicle platform. Along with the Punch EV, the company introduced ‘acti.ev’, the first model based on pure EV architecture. The Punch EV was the company’s first model based on pure EV architecture, known as ‘acti.ev’.

According to Hindustan Times (HT) Auto, Anand Kulkarni, CPO, Tata Motors, said that the new architecture is about the approach taken while developing the vehicle. He further said that Tiago and Tigor are not behind in being able to implement this unique approach on those vehicles. However, market forces will determine when both models will undergo this transition.

Tata believes that although the upgradeability of the Tiago EV and Tigor EV will be driven by market demand, it is also important to realize that these models will receive special treatment to meet the expectations of the target market. While both the models will each have a different solution, Kulkarni, CPO, Tata Motors, clarified that the fundamental strategy of having a scalable modular platform with larger batteries, better space and higher levels of connectivity will remain the same as it is. “activ.ev” vehicle.

Additionally, even though the Nexon EV was updated in 2023, Kulkarni, CPO, Tata Motors, believes that the car can still be improved, by adding features like a front boot and better cabin space availability. While the company worked on the platform, powertrain and technology to make the new Nexon EV “completely new”, some parts like the battery remain unchanged.

“The Nexon already has significant upgrades, which were a part of the changes taking place in ‘acti.ev’ and they included not only the powertrain layer, but also some changes at the platform layer with the cloud layer and electronics architecture layer . This has also been upgraded,” Kulkarni, CPO, Tata Motors, was quoted as saying by HT Auto. He said that the company is ready to upgrade Nexon EV as per the need.

The Nexon marked Tata Motors’ entry into the electric vehicle market in 2020.
