“Why Didn’t You Go To US?” Bengaluru Techie Gives 7 Reasons, Thread Viral

A techie provided reasons for choosing not to relocate to the United States.

Indian IT engineers have a significant presence abroad, particularly in countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and various European nations. These engineers are often sought after for their technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong work ethic.

An Indian software professional is frequently presumed to pursue the American Dream. There’s a common notion that IT engineers have relatively easy access to opportunities abroad, and if they opt not to work overseas, it’s often perceived as a reflection of their professional competence.

However, not every software developer genuinely wants to work abroad; there are some who would like to work just in India.

Highlighting this aspect of professional life, one social media user has come up with a Twitter thread that is going viral now.

Aanshul Sadaria, a software engineer working at the renowned tech company Google in Bengaluru, has articulated his decision to stay committed to India instead of succumbing to the appeal of the United States.

Through a series of tweets, he has opened up about the motivations and factors that played a role in shaping his choice.

“Bhaiya, why did you not go to the US? Didn’t you get an opportunity?”, Mr. Sadaria mentioned that he frequently came across this question from various people.

He explained: “I could as well. But I didn’t! Patriotism? Not exactly. I lost my father in 2021 and wanted to stay close to my family!”

“Would you ever go to the US in the future with your family?” Additionally, he claimed that he was questioned regarding the prospect of pursuing future endeavors in the United States.

“Perhaps. For a few years, just to get a taste of US working culture and because I am a travel freak. But ultimately, I would want to settle back in India only,” he responded.

As the thread progressed, the dialogue evolved into a comprehensive comparison between the two nations, encompassing aspects such as professional opportunities, healthcare, education, and various dimensions of life. The discourse extended to the theme of quality of life, prompting Mr. Sadaria to delve into the economic realities and social intricacies that define India’s distinctive environment.

At the core of his reasoning was a comprehensive perspective on life in India, encompassing a fusion of convenience, affordability, and emotional connections. He praised the accessibility of domestic assistance, the solace found in familial bonds, and the cost-efficiency of private education.

Eight dangle by thread Pakistan cable car rescue in with daylight fading

A military rescue is currently underway for six children and two adults trapped in a cable car over a 1,200 foot valley in Pakistan.

The group was on their way to school when one of the cables snapped, leaving it dangling 900 feet above ground, officials said.

A local teacher said that about 150 people take the hazardous journey to school by cable car daily because of lack of public transportation – most of the Allai area in Pakistan has no infrastructure like roads or basic facilities.

Helicopters have reached the incident, but rescue conditions are still precarious.

Pakistan’s acting Prime Minister has ordered rescuers to respond to the “alarming” incident in Battagram, in Pakistan’s northwest.

The eight passengers were trapped for at least four hours before the first helicopter arrived, local media outlets reported.

The incident occurred around 7am local time on Tuesday across the Allai Valley in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. Residents spotted the cable car stranded mid-air and used loudspeakers to alert local officials.

The open chair-lift is now being “suspended by a single rope”, officials said.

Local police officer Muhammad Amjad told the BBC that four helicopters are in involved in the operation, but attempts have been unsuccessful.

Assistant Commissioner of Allai Jawad Hussain told BBC that water and food has been delivered to the stranded people by the rescue team from the helicopter.

The operation is being complicated by both gusty winds and worries that the helicopter blades could further destabilize the chair-lift.

The six children on the car are aged between 10 and 16 years old.

An adults stuck in the cable car said a 16-year-old onboard has a heart condition and has been unconscious for at least two hours.

Another rescue worker confirmed that a child had fainted due to heat and fear.

Gulfaraz also told a local news channel: “For God’s sake help us. People in our area are standing here and crying.”.

Daylight is running out and the local forecast shows hot and humid conditions with gusty winds, as well as a few periods of heavy rain or thunderstorms throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.

Why Threads, Meta’s Twitter Killer, Needs a Desktop Version

On Threads, Meta Platforms Inc.’s Twitter copycat, users have been asking for weeks for a version that works on their computers. Soon, the company is expected to fulfill the wish.

In the mobile age, it’s not usually the desktop version of an app that makes or breaks its success. But Threads is focused on short text updates, which are sometimes easier to manage in a professional setting on a computer. Users with large followings and brands that buy advertising often keep the desktop version of X, formerly known as Twitter, open on their work computers during the day while they schedule posts, analyze performance, and manage any money they’re spending on the platform. None of those features exist yet on Threads.

“We’re close on web,” Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram who is leading the Threads project, said last week. The company understands the app needs to be available on a desktop in order to build Threads into a weekday habit during work hours – especially after initial excitement with the app’s launch has faded – and claim users from X. The Wall Street Journal reported that the update could come as soon as this week.

It’s unclear what other functionality the Threads product update will include. The company declined to comment.

Threads is a bright spot for growth at Meta while other departments are getting slashed. Since its launch on July 5 with just a few dozen employees, the company has given the group headcount of more than a hundred. If the project can’t attract repeat users and paying advertisers, the tech giant runs the risk of criticism from investors and employees alike.

The tool racked up more than 100 million signups within days of its launch earlier this month and could generate about $8 billion in annual revenue over the next two years, according to Evercore ISI analysts. Since its peak, daily usage has declined more than 70%, according to Sensor Tower, a market research firm.

With the early buzz quieted, it’s still unclear where Threads will make its mark on internet culture. There is an opportunity to lure former Twitter users as the newly re-named platform undergoes vast changes under new owner Elon Musk’s leadership. But simply being an alternative to X won’t be enough to steal cultural relevance from its fast-growing rival, TikTok, Bloomberg has reported. It’ll depend on the pace of the app’s updates, and whether it can appeal to a new set of users who may have never been on Twitter.

Musk vs Zuckerberg cage match: Fans cry ‘Elon ain’t ready’ after Meta CEO’s post

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and co-founder of Meta Platforms, has achieved a significant milestone in his jiu-jitsu journey by earning his blue belt. The 39-year-old billionaire proudly shared this accomplishment on Instagram, alongside his coach Dave Camarillo, both celebrating their new belt promotions.

In his Instagram post, Zuckerberg congratulated Coach Dave Camarillo on attaining his 5th-degree black belt and expressed gratitude for being an excellent mentor. He acknowledged how much he has learned about both fighting and life through his training with Camarillo. Additionally, Zuckerberg felt honored to be promoted to compete at the blue belt level for the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu San Jose team.

Coach Camarillo responded with appreciation, feeling privileged to know Zuckerberg and learn from him. He commended Zuckerberg’s discipline and offered his heartfelt thanks for the support he had received.

Musk vs Zuckerberg rivalry

Amidst rumors of a potential cage fight with Elon Musk, this achievement showcases Zuckerberg’s dedication to his jiu-jitsu journey and passion for martial arts. And fans cite that this might be a fresh challenge for Musk.

Some comments include:

“Elon is in trouble”

“Zuck getting ready frfr”

“Elon aint ready”

“Fight Elon!”

“Zuck aint zuckin around”

Tensions between Zuckerberg and Musk escalated further when Meta Platforms unveiled their Twitter rival app, Threads, leading to threats of a lawsuit from Twitter, alleging the poaching of their former employees.

However, recent report claims Threads seems to be losing traction and dying a death like other Twitter rivals

New data apps tracking firm Sensor Tower indicates the hype has died down and Threads has seen a 20 per cent decrease in active users and a 50 per cent reduction in time spent on the app, from 20 minutes to 10 minutes.

Twitter had seen about a 5 per cent decrease in traffic right after Threads’ launch earlier this month.
