‘Why Not?’ Boxing phenomenon Canelo Álvarez hints at a future clash with Jake Paul in a high-stakes boxing extravaganza

The reigning super middleweight boxing champion, Saul Álvarez, also famously known as Canelo, has hinted at the possibility of facing social media superstar Jake Paul in a boxing match once he has concluded his career in the sport. Canelo, who celebrated his 33rd birthday in July, acknowledges that his retirement may not be too far off.

He stated in an interview with Full Send, “When I’m done with boxing, why not? Maybe. Maybe I do it. Why not? I think it’s good because other people who never watch boxing, they don’t know anything about boxing. They want to watch Jake Paul because he brings fans from other worlds, not boxing fans. That’s good because everybody enjoys it. What they do, I think they do for business, and you need to respect that.”

The business aspect of such matches has undeniably been successful, evident from the impressive pay-per-view numbers they generate.

In response to this interview, Jake went on to post a story to his Instagram where Canelo mentioned he would consider fighting the YouTuber turned boxer after he is done competing at the highest level.

Jake Paul shared the interview and captioned it, “Manifestation is real… When I called Canelo out two years ago, everyone laughed at me. Now he sees the vision and the power. It will happen.

Before Canelo can contemplate his post-boxing future, he must first focus on his upcoming bout against Jermell Charlo, scheduled for this Saturday night, September 30, 2023, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The super middleweight title will be on the line in this highly anticipated clash.

Shakib Al Hasan Hints At Retirement After 2025 ICC Champions Trophy | Cricket News

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan wants to call time on his illustrious international career after the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan. He has also asserted that while he plans to retire from Tests following the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India starting next month, he is also likely to quit T20Is after the ICC T20 World Cup next year in West Indies and the United States of America. Talking to T-Sports, as reported by ESPNCricinfo, Shakib said, “The 2025 Champions Trophy for ODIs and the 2024 T20 World Cup for T20Is. Tests may be sooner. Maybe (after the World Cup).” “I will retire all at once, but I will stop playing each format one by one. I will announce my retirement after the 2025 Champions Trophy.” Shakib will be leading Bangladesh during the World Cup, having also captained the side during the Asia Cup earlier this month in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

It was his second stint as the unit’s leader. Under him, the Tigers did make it to the Super 4 of the Asia Cup, but failed to make it to the final.

In the meantime, Shakib has confirmed that his outing in the upcoming World Cup will be his last as the skipper and will be quitting captaincy as a whole.

“Given the current reality, I am captain only till the World Cup. Not a day more.” “I resigned from the captaincy on the 17th (of September). The reasons were the same when I didn’t want to captain ahead of the Asia Cup.” “I don’t think my captaincy is adding value at this stage of my career. I wanted to just bowl my 10 overs, give my best in fielding, and do my batting.” “The easiest thing to do for me would have been not to take the captaincy. At this age, I didn’t want to take this pressure. I want to smile, enjoy my game, perform for Bangladesh,” he added.

Bangladesh take on Afghanistan in its opening fixture of the World Cup on October 7 in Dharamsala.

Coronation Street’s Sarah Platt star hints villain could be ‘coming back‘

Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien has teased there could be a familiar face returning to Weatherfield.

Fans of the ITV soap saw a steamy affair unfold earlier this year between Tina’s character Sarah Platt and Damon Hay (played by Ciaran Griffiths).

However, when her husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) found out what was happening, it all took a nasty turn.

Wanting Damon to get as far away from his wife as possible, Adam took revenge by tracking down a criminal contact of his.

Lying to the criminal stating that Damon was planning on speaking to the police to get a better sentence for his involvement in insurance fraud, Damon fled the cobbles in fear for his life.

Although it seems as though he could be making a comeback as soap star Tina O’Brien told Metro at the charity event CUREUsher this week.

Speaking about Sarah’s current storyline in the soap, she said: “Obviously at the moment Sarah’s going through a divorce.

“I’m not sure if there’s too much water under the bridge.

“I have heard a rumour that a certain Damon might be coming back soon, so we’ll see.”

However, if Damon does return there could be drama ahead as unbeknownst to him, Sarah was pregnant with his child before suffering a tragic miscarriage.

The loss happened during a heated argument with Adam before she started to get serious stomach cramps and took herself to the hospital.

After learning about the miscarriage, Adam blamed himself for what happened as he mentioned it could have been because of the stress he put her under.

Although Sarah assured him it wasn’t his fault, it seemed as though fans thought Damon wouldn’t see it that way.

Taking to Twitter, @RyanTheSoapking said: “I’m curious to see how Damon would feel now if he returned to the street and knew that Sarah was pregnant and lost his baby.”

@k_heyrab added: “Yeah that’s sad. If Damon finds out, he’ll blame Adam and then he’s in trouble. Out for blood. It’s coming.”

@ChewBarker78 commented: “So Adam will be getting the blame for this then.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.

What after Chandrayaan 3? ISRO chief S Somanath hints at mission that can reveal a lot about Earth’s future

Venus is an interesting planet and exploring it will help answer certain questions, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S Somanath said while speaking about their upcoming missions. Recently, Somanath informed that there are several missions in the pipeline, of which Venus is already configured.

Why ISRO is exploring Venus mission?

Somanath, while addressing the Indian National Science Academy in Delhi, said, “We have a lot of missions in the conceptual phase. A mission to Venus is already configured. Payloads have already developed for it.”

ISRO Chairman added, “It also has an atmosphere. Its atmosphere is so thick. The atmospheric pressure is 100 times that of Earth and it is full of acids. You cannot penetrate the surface. You don’t know if its surface is hard or not. Why are we trying to understand all of this? Earth could be one day Venus. I don’t know. Maybe 10,000 years later we (Earth) change our characteristics. Earth was never like this. It was not a habitable place long long back.”

Venus is the second planet from the Sun and is Earth’s closest planetary neighbor. It’s one of the four inner, terrestrial (or rocky) planets, and it’s often called Earth’s twin because it’s similar in size and density.

ESA’s Venus Express (2006-2016) and Japan’s Akatsuki Venus Climate Orbiter (since 2016) are recent Venus missions. Earlier in February 2021 flyby, NASA’s Parker Solar Probe captured its first visible light images of Venus’ surface.

What after Chandrayaan 3 mission?

Meanwhile, following the triumphant soft landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the lunar South Pole, ISRO launched the Aditya-L1 Mission to study the Sun in unprecedented detail.

In only six decades, India has rapidly ascended as a global frontrunner in space technology and exploration, with much credit attributed to the ISRO.

ISRO’s laurels extend to space exploration as well, with feats like the Chandrayaan missions for lunar exploration, the Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan) in 2013—India’s inaugural interplanetary expedition—and the initiation of AstroSat in 2015, marking the country’s first dedicated astronomical pursuit.

Nijjar met Canada Intel officials before death; India hints ISI’s role: Report

Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and one of India’s most-wanted terrorists was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen outside a gurdwara in Surrey in the western Canadian province of British Columbia on 18 June this year. Months after his death, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have alleged that the Indian government was behind the killing of Nijjar, 45. India had designated Nijjar as a terrorist in 2020.

On the killing, India has rejected the allegations and called it “absurd” and “motivated” and expelled a senior Canadian diplomat in a tit-for-tat move to Ottawa’s expulsion of an Indian official. India has also asked Canada to crack down on terrorists and anti-India elements operating from its soil and suspended visa services for Canadians.

Report have now emerged that Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was responsible for killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada in order to strain India Canada ties, sources has said as reported by India Today. Other sources also told CNN-News18 that the two ISI plants in Canada, Rahat Rao and Tariq Kiyani, were given the task of killing Nijjar due to business reasons or to get more cuts from new people. According to the sources, two sought to kill Nijjar in order to take control of drugs and immigration business, as reported by the daily.

Another report have also stated that Nijjar was in touch with the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and had met senior officials just six days before he was killed, his son claimed as reported by CNN-News18.

Sources told CNN-News18 that his son Balraj Singh had also claimed that that his father was meeting CSIS officials since February this year and was also suppose to meet them two days after he was killed on 18 June. According to sources, the Indian Intelligence agencies also wondered as to why Nijjar wasn’t provided close proximity protection since reliable intelligence was available against Indian spies, further adding that, this demonstrated in some capacity that Canada too assisted ISI and provided access to Nijjar’s murders. They also claimed that the Khalistani sympathiser was exceedingly careful and guarded, making close approach impossible without someone Nijjar knew.

Meanwhile, Indian agencies had informed the Canadian government about all his terrorist activities and how he fled to Canada in 1997 but Canada did not take any action. Nijjar had applied for asylum in Canada claiming that he feared persecution in India because he belonged to ‘a particular social group’, reported PTI citing sources, adding Nijjar’s asylum was rejected on grounds of fabricated narrative. Later, Nijjar went to Canada in 1997 using a counterfeit passport under the alias Ravi Sharma.

When his asylum was rejected, Nijjar entered into a ‘marriage’ agreement with a woman who sponsored his immigration. And all this happened just 11 days after his first claim was rejected.

Earlier, National Investigation Agency (NIA) had shared details about Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Pannun who “wants to create many countries by dividing India.” The NIA document said that Pannun challenged the unity and integrity of India through his audio messages. Pannun wants a separate country for Punjabis named Khalistan, a country for Muslims named ‘Democratic Republic of Urdustan’, and a nation for the people of Kashmir

Since Trudeau’s allegations, a spiraling diplomatic crisis began as Canada asserted that it had human and signal intelligence behind its allegations. A CBC report had said the intelligence included communications involving Indian officials, among them Indian diplomats present in Canada, adding that some of the intelligence was provided by an unidentified ally in the Five Eyes alliance. Five Eyes is an intelligence-sharing network that includes the US, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Russia hints peace with Kyiv possible as Putin ally shares terms for end of war

Russia’s top diplomat suggested the country is ready to consider peace negotiations with Ukraine should Kyiv meet its key condition.

Sergey Lavrov over the weekend gave the first major indication that Moscow is prepared to end the war after 19 months.

He noted the Kremlin would recognize Ukraine’s borders before the invasion if President Volodymyr Zelensky and his Government backtracked on plans to join NATO or any other military alliance.

During an outing on Saturday, Lavrov said that the Kremlin “recognized the sovereignty of Ukraine on the basis of the Declaration of Independence which it adopted upon leaving the USSR.”

The Foreign Affairs Minister added: “One of the main points for us was that Ukraine would be a non-aligned country and would not enter into any military alliances.

“Under those conditions, we support the territorial integrity of this state.”

Ukrainian neutrality has long been a matter of contention between Kyiv and Russia, with the latter’s attempts to increasingly align itself with the European Union and other Western nations repeatedly thwarted by Moscow.

“Ukraine’s 1990 Declaration of State Sovereignty does indeed proclaim Ukraine to be a ‘permanently neutral state that does not participate in military blocs’,” George Mason University Schar School of Policy and Government professor Mark N. Katz said.

He told Newsweek: “Lavrov’s statement, then, does imply that Moscow would recognize Ukraine’s 1990 borders if Ukraine foreswore membership in NATO.”

Vladimir Putin cited NATO’s alleged expansionistic plot as a key factor in his decision to launch what he first called a “special operation” into Ukraine.

However, the conflict has only exacerbated Zelensky’s commitment to join NATO and his bid has since won the support of several members.

Lavrov’s statement, while offering a glimmer of hope for peace, does not address what is likely to long remain a sticking point between Kyiv and Moscow – the future of Crimea.

Putin’s troops invaded the peninsula in 2014 and unilaterally claimed it as part of Russia, citing the desire to protect the Russian-speaking population in the region from a never-verified threat of genocide.

While in the earlier stages of the war Zelensky remained neutral on the matter of Crimea, he has since pledged to reclaim the territory and Ukraine’s defence forces have increasingly realigned their efforts on the peninsula.

Katz added: “Lavrov’s statement might not be definitive, and that there may be further ‘clarification’ about it that is not so generous toward Ukraine.

“Still, if Moscow just wants to end the war, it may be able to portray forestalling Ukraine from joining NATO as a victory even if it means renouncing Russian claims to occupied Ukrainian territory.

“But I’m not sure Putin can do this as it would raise the question of whether the enormous casualties experienced by Russian forces in this conflict were worth such an agreement—assuming that Ukraine and NATO governments would agree to it.”

Crimea has served as the key hub supporting the invasion and has increasingly come under fire by Ukraine.

Sevastopol, the main base of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet since the 19th century, has had particular importance for navy operations since the start of the war.

Ukraine has increasingly targeted naval facilities in Crimea in recent weeks while the brunt of its summer counteroffensive makes slow gains in the east and south of Ukraine, the Institute for the Study of War said.

Military experts say it is essential for Ukraine to keep up its attacks on targets in Crimea to degrade Russian morale and weaken its military.

Stephen’s exit is due to be aired in a highly dramatic storyline in October as his multiple murders come to light.

So far, he’s murdered Leo Thompkins, Teddy Thompkins and Rufus Donahue, but whether or not he will be caught remains to be seen.

According to Metro.co.ukupcoming scenes have been filmed at a canal with police and Corrie locals gathering around to find a gruesome discovery.

HS2 northern leg: ‘Money is not infinite’ – Grant Shapps hints at change to HS2 plans as section looks set to be scrapped

Grant Shapps has hinted at a change to plans for HS2, as the northern section of the rail project looks set to be scrapped.

Sky News understands the high-speed line planned between Birmingham and Manchester will be binned by the prime minister due to concerns over the cost of the much delayed project.

And it is still unclear if the final section between Old Oak Common in west London and the planned central destination in the capital at Euston will go ahead.

Speaking to Sky News’ Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips show, Mr Shapps would not confirm the reports, but he suggested there could be a change to the “sequencing” and “pace” of HS2 from the government due to the soaring price tag.

“Money is not infinite,” said the former transport secretary, who is now in charge of the Ministry of Defence.

“All of these big decisions where budgets are, particularly in the case of HS2, inexorably going higher and higher and higher, and your viewers are having to pay that bill, it is absolutely right that the government looks at it and says: hold on a minute, is this just a sort of open-ended cheque or are we going to make sure this project gets delivered to a pace and a timetable that actually works for the taxpayer?

“We take those long-term decisions seriously, but we don’t think any amount of money, no matter how big the budget gets, that you should just carry on ploughing it in. There has to be a point where you say, hold on a minute, let’s just take a break here.”

Mr Shapps also pointed to the impact of COVID and the Ukraine war on the public purse.

“The country has to respond to the circumstances,” he said. “We did not know there would be coronavirus, a one in 100 year event… we didn’t know there would be a war on in Europe… so of course, if circumstances change, you have to look at the sequencing of the big infrastructure cash that you spend.

“Any government that doesn’t do that, any opposition that claims you don’t need to, is not fit to govern this country.”

But the expected announcement was criticised by Labour’s mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, who said people in the North of England are “always treated as second class citizens when it comes to transport”.

He told Sky News: “This was the parliament where they said they would level us up. If they leave a situation where the southern half of the country is connected by modern high-speed lines and the North of England is left with Victorian infrastructure, that is a recipe for the North-South divide to become a North-South chasm over the rest of this century.

“That is why people here are fed up with false promises and also watching now what seems to be the desperate acts of a dying government. This is not right and not fair to people here who were given so many promises.”

Andy Burnham rages at HS2 scrapping

HS2 was first touted by Labour in 2009, but it was the coalition government that signed off the plan, designed to connected the South, Midlands and North of England with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

Despite billions being poured into the project it has been beset by delays and rising costs – with the eastern leg scrapped entirely and work between Birmingham and Crewe delayed due to the impact of inflation.

Some estimates have put the total cost at over £100bn, while the project has been rated “unachievable” by the infrastructure watchdog.

However, plans to scrap the northern leg have been criticised on all sides of the political spectrum.

Former Tory prime minister Boris Johnson called it “desperate” and “Treasury-driven nonsense”, while one of his predecessors, David Cameron, is said to have privately cautioned against it, with an ally telling the Times that HS2 was “a totemic Conservative pledge”.

As per the report, on Thursday, Joe performed at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and spoke to the parents and parents-to-be present in the audience. The group performed Little Bird that each of the three brothers, including Kevin and Nick, has dedicated to their kids.

Before performing it, Joe said after a brief pause, “This next one is all about being a parent.” He also wished “good luck” to those who looked forward to becoming parents in future.

Joe is fighting a legal battle with Sophie Turner

Joe’s shout-out comes amid his custody battle with Sophie Turner. Recently, Sophie filed a lawsuit against Joe alleging wrongful retention of the couple’s two children following which Joe filed a response. As per People, the lawsuit alleged that Joe refused to let the couple’s two children, Willa and another daughter return to England.
