Telangana, under the rule of KCR, is number one in the country in per capita income, KTR said.
Hyderabad:
Launching a scathing attack, ruling BRS Working President in Telangana K T Rama Rao on Tuesday accused the BJP of playing communal politics and the Congress of announcing poll ‘guarantees’ in a desperate bid to garner votes.
Speaking at an event where a BJP leader joined the BRS, he alleged that “those in government at the Centre” did not like the BRS government celebrating September 17, the day the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad merged with the Indian Union, as ‘national integration day’.
“Narendra Modi ji’s government at the Centre is playing dirty politics of dividing the society on caste or religious basis, triggering animosities and tensions, creating unnecessary trouble in the name of Hindu or Muslim, raking up old wounds, fomenting communal trouble and trying to derive mileage,” he alleged.
The Modi government and BJP did a slew of injustices to Telangana in the last nine years, including merger of ‘mandals’ (administrative units) in Telangana with Andhra Pradesh at the time of state bifurcation and non-implementation of assurances given to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, said Rama Rao, who is a minister in the state government.
PM Modi had promised to bring back black money and deposit Rs 15 lakh in the bank accounts of the poor, he claimed. But, it did not happen, he said.
However, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has deposited Rs 73,000 crore in the accounts of 70 lakh farmers under the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ investment support scheme for ryots, said Rama Rao, son of the CM.
He also attacked the BJP-led government over rise in fuel prices, decline in rupee value against the dollar and others.
A BJP leader in Telangana is making a film on the ‘Razakars’ (armed supporters of Nizam rule) which is an attempt to rake up “old wounds” and foment trouble among people, he claimed.
“On one hand ‘Kashmir Files’ and on the other ‘Kerala Story’ and ‘Razakar Files’. Since they have done nothing for the country in the last nine years, those who cannot do anything play with emotions and do such cheap politics,” Rama Rao said.
Referring to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi attending a Congress rally in Hyderabad two days ago, he said the Congress is now asking for “one chance” to rule but it was given 11 chances for 55 years by people of Telangana and the country.
The Congress did not ensure drinking water and power supply and did not implement schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’ when it was in power, he claimed.
“Frustration at not being able to come to power. ..They (Congress) are making rash promises to come to power,” he said.
On the Congress announcing six guarantees for people at the rally, he alleged that power and drinking water supply woes, problems in availability of seeds, “one chief minister every year” is guaranteed if Congress comes to power, he said.
The Congress government in neighbouring Karnataka is not able to implement the promises it made ahead of the Assembly elections, he claimed.
Telangana, under the rule of KCR, is number one in the country in per capita income and per capita power consumption, provision of piped drinking water to every household and others, he said.
KCR should be re-elected in the Assembly polls (scheduled to be held in a couple of months) as a “hat-trick CM”, he said.
The BRS leader’s attack on the NDA government with regard to September 17 is a reference to the Centre organising an official function in Hyderabad, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah attending it, to celebrate the ‘Hyderabad Liberation Day’ and BJP attacking the BRS government for not celebrating the day officially.

After Twitter/X boss Elon Musk shared the news that he planned to sue the Anti-Defamation League for defamationthere was a predictable response on Twitter/X pointing out the obvious facts he glossed over in the first place.
Musk blamed a 60 percent drop in advertising revenue on the ADL, claiming that the organization was “trying to kill this platform by falsely accusing it & me of being anti-Semitic.” Back in November 2022, the ADL did encourage advertisers to “pause” their campaigns on the platform after Musk took over. Why? Because of a proven rise in hate speech after Musk reinstated several right-leaning accounts in the name of “free speech absolutism.”
So while Musk is pointing the finger at the ADL, Twitter/X users are gently redirecting his finger towards his company’s numbers and the policies he instituted himself:
And by pointing the finger at the ADL, it’s looking to some like he’s employing some, frankly, anti-Semitic tactics:
But blatant anti-Semitism aside, some are simply pointing out the unforced error on Musk’s part:

The Indian cricket team announced its World Cup squad on Tuesday. While the veteran batting duo KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, who have just returned from lengthy injury breaks, found a place in the 15-member team, Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma (who have been part of the recent limited-overs teams) could not make it to the team. India will be led by Rohit Sharma while Hardik Pandya will be his deputy. The side has gone with three left-arm spinners and three specialist pacers. Ishan Kishan and Rahul will be the wicketkeepers.
The squad was announced by BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar with India captain Rohit Sharma sitting by his side. There was a point during the press conference when Rohit lost his cool, as he was asked about ‘outside noise’.
“Don’t ask me such questions when we do press conferences in India. We don’t want to pay attention to outside noise. I have already said many times, we do not pay attention to those things and I will not answer those questions now,” he said.
On a separate question, Rohit talked about the team combination: “We have picked best possible combination. We have depth in batting, we have spin and other bowling options. Hardik Pandya is a complete package, his form will be crucial for us at World Cup”
India’s squad for World Cup: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj, kuldeep Yadav

James Holzhauer is taking aim at Jeopardy! producers after they announced that Season 40 of the show would continue amid the writers strike.
The Jeopardy! champion took to social media to call out producers of the game show after Michael Davies revealed on the Inside Jeopardy! podcast that the new season would recycle questions and contestants from the past.
“If you don’t have time to listen, here’s the executive summary of today’s announcement,” Holzhauer posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The game show winner then cited the seemingly opposing comments from Davies adding, “1:00-2:00: Jeopardy’s writers are invaluable and we couldn’t produce the show without them 2:00-15:00: Here is how we will produce the upcoming season without them.”
During the latest episode of Inside Jeopardy!, Davies said at the top of the podcast that he admired and missed the writers of the show.
“They are beloved, and valued members of the Jeopardy! team, just as they value every other member of our team,” he said before listing all the departments within the show and adding, “This really is a family who make this show who’ve been through a lot together over the last few years. And just the respect that everybody holds for each other is something remarkable about this program. And I think it comes across on air.”
After the first couple of minutes of acknowledging the writers like Holzhauer on his social media post, Davies then goes on to explain how Season 40 will move forward amid the writers strike.
Davies said that Season 40’s “original plan” was to “extend the postseason” which would include various tournaments that would’ve lasted about 15-16 weeks.
“The entire staff is committed to producing the best episodes we possibly can. But I understand that the best episodes that are possible, are episodes that feature our writers writing original material, and the very best contestants, as we’ve always put on the air playing that original material,” Davies said of having to shift the show amid the strike.
Davies said he realized that the postseason with Tournament of Champions would have to be postponed until the writers returned “and be able to write original material that the tournament deserves.”
“So we decided that really we needed to invite back and give a second chance in general to players who probably thought that their chance to come back and play on the Alex Trebek stage had gone forever. So we’re going to open the season with a second chance tournament for players from Season 37, who lost their initial game, and winners from that will advance to a Season 37 and Season 38 champions wildcard,” Davies said of Season 40.
The producer said that it would all culminate in a Tournament of Champions. Another change for the new season is that the new pricing for second and third place would go into effect as of the new season meaning that second place would win $3,000 and third place would get $2,000.
“Because I have no idea of the timing of when this ends when all of this can happen. It’s tough for me right now to forecast what’s going to happen with the Season 40 postseason, that will take place during Season 41,” Davies added. “I have been adamant that I want to do this at the same time. Every year. I got one year of doing that already got derailed. So we will attempt to get back on track. That is my plan. That is my promise.”

An American lorry driver won the lottery just three days after telling his boss he was retiring.
Despite scooping $1 million – £787,165 – Paul Bashaw finished his notice period without saying a word about his good fortune to colleagues.
The 65-year-old, who comes from West Boylston in Massachusetts bought the winning ticket just days after informing his employer of over 20 years of his plans to retire at the end of the following week.
He purchased a $5,000,000 100X Cashword scratch card on 20 July and was stunned to scoop the big prize.
The lorry driver claimed his winnings at the Massachusetts Lottery headquarters in Dorchester on 28 July – his last day at work.
The former lorry driver, who turns 66 later this year, said he has seen three of his dreams come true in the last five years.
Speaking to Massachusetts Lottery, he said: ‘I told my wife there were three things in life I never thought I’d see happen:
‘The Patriots winning the Super Bowl, getting a hole in one – that happened five years ago – and hitting the lottery.
‘And now I’ve hit all three.’
He opted for a one-time payment of $650,000 (£511,608) before taxes.
The lucky winner said he plans to use some of his prize money to go travelling.
Bashaw bought his ticket at the J & J Variety store in West Boylston, which will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning scratch card.
Last month, a woman from Washtenaw County, Michigan State, won the lottery on her husband’s birthday.
Kristin Murawski, 46, had said: ‘My husband looked at the ticket and his jaw dropped.’
She matched all five numbers on the Fantasy 5 draw on 21 July, winning $288,903 – £226,026.
The lucky lady told Michigan Lottery: ‘Winning this jackpot is life-changing and makes our lives easier.
‘It means an earlier retirement for my husband and less worry about how we’ll make ends meet once we’re both retired.’
