Switzerland On Friday it announced plans to invest $200 billion in the United States by 2028, as it finalized a tough deal to reduce US tariffs on Swiss goods.
Economy Minister Guy Parmelin said trump The administration has agreed to reduce US tariffs on most Swiss goods to 15% – the same level imposed on the neighbor European Union — by 39%, the highest rate of any Western country.
The Swiss Federal Council, the country’s seven-member executive branch, said in a post on its X account that it “thanks President Trump for his constructive partnership.”
The reduction in US tariffs comes months after the Trump administration increased tariffs on Swiss goods from an initial 31% announced in April to 39% on August 1.
That prompted a quick and sustained effort by Switzerland’s government and business leaders to bring them down — efforts that had been fruitless until Friday’s announcement.
