New Delhi, October 6 (IANS) National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken cognizance of a media report that three children suffering from pneumonia were branded with a warm iron rod by a belief doctor in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh.
Allegedly, the position of one of the children is called serious.
Doctors have confirmed that the children were suffering from pneumonia and had burn burn marks on their body.
The top human rights body has stated that the contents of the news report, if true, raise serious issues of human rights violations.
NHRC has issued notices to Jhabua District Magistrate Neha Meena and Superintendent of Police Padam Wilochan Shukla for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks.
According to media reports made on 25 September, the children’s parents themselves took them to Vishwas Heellers.
Of the three children who were branded with warm iron rods are two babies who are two months old.
After this incident, his health deteriorated significantly, and he was taken to Jhabua District Hospital in critical condition.
All three children are currently on oxygen support, and a girl has been sent to Dahod for further medical care.
The Madhya Pradesh Police is actively investigating to determine who branded the children and where these acts have been kept.
