The Chamoli District Disaster Management Office has directed the tourism and forest departments to suspend trekking activities on October 6 and 7.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in several districts, including chamoli, and snowfall in areas with 4,000 meters or more between October 5 to 7, which has suspended trekking activities in high Himalayan regions.
According to officials, the first given trekking permits have also been canceled with immediate effect.
He said that all departments and executed agencies have also been asked to stop construction work in risky areas during this period.
In addition to Chamoli, District Magistrate Vivek Prakash appealed to the people to be vigilant in view of the warning of heavy rains issued by the Meteorological Department.
He said that unnecessary movement should be avoided, especially in high altitude areas and sensitive areas, he said.
In the case of heavy rains, landslides, road hindrances and the water level of rivers and streams are likely to increase, so people should stay away from risky areas, Prakash said.
He also appealed not to pay attention to the rumors to the public and rely only on the official information issued by the administration.
