A 28-year-old Utah man is in custody after allegedly assaulting a Democratic congressman at a party sundance film festival “We are going to deport you and your kind,” he told him, police said.

Rep. Maxwell Frost On Saturday night, he tweeted that he was attacked by a man who “told me Trump was going to deport me before punching me in the face. I heard him scream racist slurs as he drunkenly ran away.”

Frost went on to thank Park City police for arresting suspect Christian Joel Young.

Young faces charges of aggravated burglary, attempted/assault on an elected official and simple assault, according to authorities.

The incident happened Friday night at High West Brewery in Park City. Young is accused of assaulting Frost and his friend during the altercation.

Bar staff told investigators that Young had earlier been told it was an invitation-only event and was denied entry to the venue. At one point, Young allegedly tried to climb over the fence in an attempt to gain access to the venue, but was unlucky.

Police documents allege Young had “bizarre conversations and comments involving…race” that were directed at Frost’s friends. During the conversation, Young grabbed the two men “like around their necks.”

He then told members of Congress: “We are going to deport you and your kind.” Police said an unspecified racial slur and a punch at Frost followed.

In addition to allegedly assaulting Frost, Young is also accused of pushing Democratic Friend “against the pub”.

Young then tried to escape through the crowd, but was quickly apprehended by bar security and another patron.

Young also told Frost’s friend, “You’re the type of person we’re deporting. You’re being deported,” the document states. The suspect reportedly became more agitated when Frost’s friend tried to end the conversation “because the conversation became inappropriate and racially charged.”

During questioning, authorities said Young did not remember his name but did remember serving drinks at the venue, which bar staff later confirmed. Police said he had a Sundance Film Festival pass at the time of his arrest, but the pass was held in someone else’s name. Young said he didn’t know where the pass came from.
