Mumbai Indians continue to miss their star batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who is currently out due to injury. Things did not go well for MI in the absence of Suryakumar as they lost their first two matches in IPL 2024. Ahead of MI’s second match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday, a fan pointed out how the Hardik Pandya-led side faced off against SRH early in the game. That’s a good thing to say. “Today is an important game, especially a home match for SunRisers Hyderabad. Probably the best time to play against Mumbai Indians so early. Players like Kishan look to be in game-time form at the moment Not mature enough and Suryakumar Yadav is yet to feature and still has ankle issues,” the user wrote. X.
“Little ortho mate. I had ankle surgery for a sports hernia,” Suryakumar wrote. The comment went viral on social media.

Suryakumar is yet to get medical clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Suryakumar, the world’s top-ranked T20I batsman, is currently stationed at the NCA in Bengaluru for rehabilitation after undergoing sports hernia surgery. He has not competed since December.
He underwent groin surgery in February. This is the second surgery he has had in recent months following an ankle injury.
“I want to thank everyone for their concern and well wishes for my health, and I’m happy to tell you that I will be back soon,” he posted on X after the surgery.
Suryakumar led the Indian T20I team in the three-match series in South Africa in the absence of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. He scored 56 off 36 balls in the second T20I at Gokbehar and 100 off 56 balls in the third T20I in Johannesburg.
He was not part of the Indian ODI team for the three-match series in South Africa. Yadav also missed the home series against Afghanistan due to injury.
