A Punjab -born surgeon, her two children and her companions were killed with her husband, who piloted a small aircraft crashed in the state of New York.
Joy Saini’s family confirmed his death in a statement to the media on Sunday.
The National Transportation Safety Board investigator Albert Nixon said on Sunday that the accident occurred on Saturday, while his Mitsubishi MU2B aircraft were trying to land at Columbia County Airport, about 200 km from New York City.
Speaking at a news conference in Albani, he said that the pilot missed out from the point of view for landing and asked for one more effort, but the air traffic controller noticed that it was flying at a low height and unsuccessfully tried to alert the pilot.
The aircraft, which was evacuated from the Westchester Airport in a suburb in New York city, moved to a distance of about ten miles from the airport near the border with the Massachusetts state.
Saini came to the US with her parents and obtained her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh, where she met her husband Michael Groff, a neurosurgeon.
According to her medical practice website in Boston, Saini was an Eurogincologist and female pelvic reconstruction surgeon.
The family statement said Groff “was an experienced pilot, who fell in love with a flight after being taught by his father at the age of 16.”
The family statement said that her daughter Carna Groff was a medical student, and her partner James Santoro, an investment banker, who had planned to propose marriage soon, died in an accident.
Jared Groff, his son and his partner, a law student, Alexia Kauyutas Duterte was also killed.
According to the family, Saini and Groff couple are alive by another daughter of Anika and Saini’s mother Kuljit Singh.
This was the second accident in the US in three days.
The incident follows the Friday accident in South Florida, where a Sesna 310 aircraft went down near Boka Ratton, killing all three people.
A helicopter traveling to a scenic spots with a family of five from Spain crashed from Manhattan to Hudson River on Thursday, killing him and the pilot.
