The Supreme Court on Monday, November 17, directed the Chief Wildlife Warden of the Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve to ensure that all unauthorized structures in the national park are demolished and a tiger conservation plan be prepared within three months.
Chief Justice of India BR Gavai directed that the demolition should be done in consultation with the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) appointed by the Supreme Court.
The Uttarakhand state government will develop the scheme, which will be supervised by the CEC.
This is one of the top court’s directions to the state government to take measures to compensate the damage caused by illegal construction and felling of trees in the national park.
