A union has suspended strike at a defense and aerospace manufacturer Leonardo After the company introduced a new salary proposal in the U.K.
united Leonardo previously said it has more than 3,000 employees at UK facilities scotland And England Will walk out on a series of strikes starting on Wednesday.
The company is involved in several defense projects with its site edinburgh Manufacturing of advanced radar for military aircraft.
After last-minute negotiations, union officials said strikes scheduled to begin this week would be suspended while the new proposal was put to members on a ballot.
Unite said strike action would continue into the end of the month if the latest offer is rejected.
Unite national officer Rhys McCarthy said on Tuesday: “In good faith, Unite has suspended tomorrow’s strike action to allow our members to vote.
“The threat of action has brought Leonardo back to the table with a new and improved proposal and we will now consult with our members.”
Unite said that if the proposal is rejected, strike action will continue in Yeovil, Luton and Basildon on 12 and 13 November, and in Edinburgh and Newcastle on 10 to 18 November.
