The National Statistics Agency says that the amount and severity of the crime reported by the police in Canada declined in four percent last year after three consecutive annual growth.
Statistics Canada says that non -violent crime had a significant impact on the decline in the overall crime severity index in 2024.
Non-sensitive crime seriousness index-property and drug offenders such as crimes such as crimes fell six percent to the last year, after an increase of nine percent from 2021 to 2023.
The agency says that in 2024, the violent crime severity index declined by one percent and had a comparatively small impact on the overall picture.
This special index had increased for the last three consecutive years and increased by 15 percent over that period.
