A stampede broke out in a temple in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday (November 1). There is a possibility of many casualties in the stampede.
“I am saddened by the stampede at Kasibugga Venkateshwara temple in Srikakulam district. It is deeply saddened that devotees have lost their lives in this unfortunate incident. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims,” Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said in a post on Twitter.
He said he directed officials to ensure better treatment for the injured persons and said he directed officials and local leaders to monitor relief operations at the stampede site.
The exact number of deaths and injuries is unknown.
