Chennai, 23 September (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Dravida Munnetra Kazgam (DMK) President MK Stalin on Tuesday directed the members of the Parliament to intensify their work in constituencies by spending at least four days a week once every 15 days.
Presiding over a meeting of DMK MPs from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha at the party headquarters Anna Aravalayam in Chennai, Stalin urged the MLAs to balance the parliamentary duties with direct components engagement.
He asked him to actively participate in the outreach initiative like ‘Angaludan Stalin’ and ‘Nalam Kakkam Stalin’, and to work with district administrations to ensure the faster redress of public grievances raised in these camps.
He specifically stressed that eligible women were released out of Kalignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme and should be identified without any delay.
Stalin reminded DMK Alliance’s strong victory in all 40 seats – 39 in the state and during the 1 – 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Puducherry. He credited Vijay for the hard work of the MLAs and called for a similar commitment to secure success in the upcoming assembly elections.
He said, “It would be important to ensure regular conversation with people, addressing their demands, and ensuring strong coordination with ministers, district secretaries, legislators, zonal in-conducts and booth-level officials,” he told the MPs.
The Chief Minister further directed the MPs that they described the “anti -people” policies of the central government as policies, and created awareness about keeping their constituencies informed about the welfare initiatives of the DMK.
He emphasized that the tour of the constituency should not be considered as symbolic gestures, but as an opportunity to build confidence, resolve issues and maintain pace to elections. To ensure accountability, he said that the report on public work and parliamentary contribution would be presented to him twice a month.
The meeting was attended by senior secretary and Water Resources Minister Durimurugan, Treasurer and Lok Sabha floor leader Turu, Rajya Sabha Manzil leader Tiruchi Shiva, Deputy General Secretary and MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and many other officials.
The session marked one of the strongest DMK’s strongest push to align parliamentary performance with ground -level political mobilization, as Tamil Nadu geared for the next assembly elections in 2026.
